    please explain

How and why are you "upset with the way they are handling the sticky pedal"? Your car isn't even affected by the sticky accelerator pedal recall.

As for "ECM controller", Toyota has done analysis of the electronics and also hired Exponent to do more work. See
Newsroom : Toyota Update: Exponent Report on the Company?s Electronic Throttle Control System / Toyota
Newsroom : Toyota Update: Our Work With Exponent / Toyota
Newsroom : Comprehensive Analysis Raises Concerns About Gilbert Congressional Testimony, ABC News Segment / Toyota

But, admittedly, even if Exponent finds nothing wrong, that doesn't rule out electronics and Toyota or someone else finding out something wrong w/the electronics in the future.

Please cite your sources for the "the 1000 or so complaints" that you claim "are accurate". And what are these complaints for?

I think its due to liability reasons. If they recommended using that flimsy emergency jack for jacking up the car during maintenance, and you got under it, and somehow rocked the car enough (perhaps when loosening the oil drain bolt the wrong way) for the jack to slip - crushing you under your car, then they'd open themselves to more lawsuits.

That said, its mainly for liability reasons. But I have to add that Toyota isn't obligated to provide you with all the tools you need to maintain your car. They're not going to bundle in an air compressor, impact wrench, torque wrench/stick, and full size hydraulic lift. You bought a car. Not a car and all the stuff needed to maintain/repair it.

As for oil: you can use whatever brand oil you want (per the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act). But if that oil causes your car to fail, and Toyota is able to prove it, then you better not expect it covered under warranty. (Personally, I also use Mobil1).

As long as you follow the recommended oil weight (not 0w20/5w20 or something not recommended like 20w60), you should be fine. Note: the letter says that if you use 5w20, then the 5000mi interval is recommended.

I do! I do! I DO have a spare!!! And that sure looks like a little jack on top of it. :)

I'm so relieved because if you were right I would've had to start working out and shed however many pounds the jack weighs!
