I'd do everything I could to encourage them to total it. If they insist on repairing it, it would be wise for you to get rid of it as soon as possible. That will be an annoyance, and one that may leave you with a substantial financial loss when all is added up. No car that's been through a major accident is ever fully right again after repairs, in my experience. It was a month-old car. You should end up with an equivalent car, not a rebuilt wreck.

Mine wasn't exactly a timely post, but then some of us only look at this forum a couple times a year, and so we have a more long-term mindset.
