A/C wiring pin bent and now hybrid warning light plus no A/C

    I just left everything dry. Nobody else pops the hood, so I'm good. I hope. It's a weak link for sure though. To check on it once in a while:

    I had a heck of a tiime getting that connector to come off. Then found it's easy as pie: take the tip of a pen knife blade, just above the base of the connector, front side. Push in and pry out slightly, up and off it comes. the gap where you pry is just slightly above the base, and very narrow, even a flat-blade screwdriver is a bit too blunt to work.

    I think so. I assumed new at first, then started seeing all the "hints". They certainly soft-pedal it, borders on deceptive. They could for example, spell out "reman" as "remanufactured"...

    Just searching that part number, I see "new", on EBay, for $2081 USD:

    I think they do their durndest to hide it in plain sight. Virtually a hussle.

    I encounter the same issue with my Prius. After fixing a head gasket from a used Prius I picked up, we found that a previous person bent the pins. Car was throwing P0AA6 code in the battery.

    only option was to get a used unit from the junk yard. eBay have tons for $60-90 shipped with decent miles. They will empty the oil when they ship it.

    You can DIY. I’ve done ac for many non hybrid cars so I couldn’t use my manifold or lines. I had to buy another set. The Johnsens brand r134a from HF is the cheapest I could find and contains pure r134a. The hybrid oil could be found at your local auto part store. I poured in 4.8oz of the oil into the large hole of the compressor. Installed the compressor into the car. Added dielectric grease to the 6 pin plug. Spent 20mins vacuuming the system. Plug in my obd2 WiFi adapter, loaded up dr Prius to clear battery code. Unplug the battery for 5-10mins. Plug car battery in. Put the car in maintenance mode. Fire up the ac full blast and sucked in 22oz of r134a.
    Cost under 200 for everything. Well I already had the ac pump. You can rent one at your local autozone. But don’t use their ac manifold because it can be contaminated by PAG oil.

    no more caution error or “check hybrid system” error on dash

    Now I have a set of lines for hybrid and non hybrid in the future.
