Okay, just found out that the specs for these wheels that will be coming from Fledermaus with my body kit are the following specs:

FRONT 18 X 7.5 + 50 OFFSET

REAR 18 X 7.5 + 42 OFFSET

I have no idea what all that offset stuff means. Never worried about that before with previous cars. Just saw wheels, and if I liked them, then I bought them! Was wondering if I should be looking for a specific size of tires now, cause I need to start getting things together on my end b4 the kit ends up getting here one day and catching me off guard! Still clueless on the whole coilover/lowering process as well, if anyone has any brainy ideas regarding manufacturers or whatever that may be better than others. Holla!!

this reminds me when i went to subaru meets.

one guy was so happy when he got his carbon fiber front lip spoiler.

the next time i saw his car at a spring subaru meet the spoiler was cracked and full of chips.

good luck

Regarding offsets, any explanation on the Internet would be more clear than mine. But basically the lower the offset number the more the wheel sticks out.

For lowering, I'd start by looking up what parts are available for the Prius. Coilovers are height adjustable roughly $600-2000. Springs are cheaper $150-300. You can always pay someone for the install. If you have more specific questions throw them our way.

Give grandma my best.

Maybe this will help with your understanding of offsets:
Wheel Offset Calculator

Because you have a staggered setup, it'll mean you'll probably have to rotate your tires from side to side on the same axle instead of front to back, unless of course you are okay with the +42 in front (may stick out beyond fender line) and +50 in the rear (more gap between fender line and rims).

(knock on wood) I have put body kits on previous autos, and never scraped or anything....but I always practiced extreme caution, so as not to do that very thing... The way my luck has gone the last few years tho, no telling what I'm in store for! lol

Hmmmm... That's interesting! They said that was what was on their car that they use for advertising the kit, and they didn't mention anything about issues regarding scrubbing, or sticking out, or anything....and I SPECIFICALLY asked those things. Of course, anyone will about say anything anymore to make a sale, huh?!

I just don't think that +42 offset, especially in the rear will cause the tire and rims to stick out past the fender line. You should be okay.

Now I understand what you meant before. You were meaning if I put the wheels that were intended for the front on the back instead, and vice versa. So do people usually buy different offsets for the front and the back? Does the Prius require that? Or is this just something abnormal that Fledermaus is doing?

Sorry, should have clarified that I was referring to rotating the tires front to back and vice versa. As for the different offsets, that is NOT very common with run of the mill cars. More common with high end performance cars that were meant to have a factory staggered setup. My guess is that Fled did it purposely so your wheels look flush with the fender and your rear wheels don't look all tucked in.

The sweet (safe) spot for Prius offsets is +35 to +42. Lots of people prefer lower offsets to achieve that butch stance. When you increase the width of the rim though, the more extreme offsets become more relevant, as it can cause rubbing somewhere on the wheel well. I don't think you'll have a problem with 7.5" rims. I know that some people who had 8" rims had to roll their fenders (was a gen 2).

A 50+ offset in the front is pretty narrow. With a really wide rim (8, 9"?), it would definitely cause rubbing on the inner wheel well when you turn the wheel.

I was looking for a body kit as well and can't find where to get the KenStyle Prius30 at all.

I love the look of a lot of Prii here and the wheels are really what sets it apart. Spend your or your moms money on whatever you want man. :)

Most of the links earlier in this thread are dead. Is there a good website or message that highlights all the places that sell kits?

I've been looking for something like the G Sports Concept bumper. It has style without being over-the-top -- and it doesn't feature the oddly sculpted Toyota emblem.

Did you look at Sigma Automotive – Toyota Hybrid Prius 2010+ OEM & JDM auto accessories
??? If you click on the little box on the right that says "Exterior" and has the list on the right side of it, that's a pile of bodykits, and each one you click on in the list will show you a picture of what each one looks like.. Can't say that Sigma would be your least expensive bet for where to buy from, but at least you could see most of them and then decide which one you might want to hunt for..... and most of us could help you find it, cause we've already been thru this hunt... I have a supplier/source, also, who can get anything in Japan for you, as well.... FYI...

I know it's crazy! I'd like to start a new post and have everything in an orderly fashion from start to "finish"...but that'd be double-posting, which some members detest..... The kit and wheels are actually being padded and packaged all up by Luis' team today for the freight truck, then it'll all be freighted across to my body shop on the OTHER side of the US from them, and I'll FINALLY get to start installing everything!! YIPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Heaven only knows it's gone on ENTIRELY too long, but the whole tsunami occurrence in Japan really put stuff on hold over there for quite a while....

Honestly, you should just contact one of the Admins and have them rename your thread to GoldPianoGarden's Build Thread or something. Then maybe update the first post with a quick synopsis. I practically stumbled upon this thread by accident but I think it deserves way more attention like Rodney's thread. Good luck man and I hope you have a nice camera to update us!
