I didn't realize that I've been a part of this club so many times.
I'm currently en route to achieving my first 1000km tank.
Right now the car is doing >650km with 4 bars of gas still available. Showing an average of 25.2km/l.
Only special technique is to turn the A/C off and roll windows down when I'm driving below 70 and no rain.
Also the super highway mode (remove foot from pedal then press)

    1050.1 KM or 652.5 miles. 26 km/l on dash. Calculated was 24.83 km/l (58.4 mpg-US)

101 km after DTE was 0km. I knew I could go further but it was a rainy night and didn't want to take too much of a risk.

    WhatsApp Image 2018-11-21 at 7.30.00 AM.jpeg
    42.283 L (11.17 US gallons) in fuel

Thanks to my new commute, with enough strategy, I'm sure to crack into that 800 mile club

We don't go very fast here. It's the constant stopping and starting on the highway that drains my mpg.
    I usually drive at 90km/h

Try breaking into the 700 mile club 1st before thinking of the 800 club so you won't be too disappointed. You'll find eking out those extra last few km's that's really tough. Back when I was still trying to break into the 700 mile club, I consistently broke 600 miles but just couldn't find the last 18 miles to 700.

My problem was that my work commute at that time was only 24km one way so those miles took more than 3 weeks of daily driving (plus weekend errands) to accumulate. Then I got moved to a location that required mostly 80+mph rush hour dash and that ended my bid :(

But you do have a better chance than I did because my tank could barely take 40 litres. Usually it would only take somewhere near 39 litres .

Is that 28 km/h average speed? I'm not saying you're driving slowly, but that is a low average. Your commute must be a lot of city traffic?

    Yes and no.
The highway that I drive on has a lot of traffic lights for the first half and that just ruins my efficiency when I get caught by so many red lights.
It sucks. Most times, as soon as I finally get up to speed, I'm stopping for the next light.
And in the evening, on the way home, traffic here is the most horrible thing you can experience.
My drive is 16km and that takes well over an hour on a good day.

    Ouch....
How did I miss this thread?:):):)

OP, you got another person to add to the list here:D. I get over 600 miles from almost every tank.
Got my 2010 Prius III used last year in late November and so far I have 12 fill-ups. Out of the 12, there is only one tank I couldn't get 600 miles and that is when I went out of town. Highway speed brings your mpg down unfortunately. You cannot drive at 45-50mph on a highway!..

600+ miles on a tank is always achievable for me. I know I can push 700 because when I fill up, I cannot put more than 9.5 gallons into the tank. The fuel gauge is not accurate on Prii. Where it says you are almost at fumes, you have about 2 gallons of fuel left in the tank. Tank capacity is 11.9 per the owner's manual.

So if I be willing to drive it till running out of fuel, I would easily reach 700. But I do not want to risk the hybrid system and have to go to dealer for a reset.

I keep a log and record my mpg. The attached picture is from past April.
At this fill-up, my last pip was blinking and the computer was showing 23 miles to go in the tank. And I only put 9.3 gallons into the tank.
So technically, I could do 700 miles easily if I wanted at 65.7 mpg...

It is not difficult to achieve this. If I were to sum it up in a few words, I would just say "You need to use minimum amount of braking (including the regenerative braking.)" That's about it...

Many Prius owners think that if they go fast and hit the brake to stop the car with all the regenerative braking (without engaging the mechanical brake), they drive efficiently because they capture all that energy to charge the hybrid battery.

The simple answer is NO. You are NOT driving efficiently if you keep using your brakes because you are converting energy. Whenever you convert energy, there is always some to be lost.
You need to drive it as if you have NO brakes(y). That's the key and that also brings the fact that you will drive slow;).
And for that, you need Patience. If you are not a patient person, simply forget about it.

Who only wants to drive <25mph all the time? You might as well get a moped.

And make a bad name for all Prii drivers.

But then any econo-box can be hyper-miled by a cheepazz looking to save a buck-and-a-have....:sneaky:

I don't care about the name! :) I can go 25mph on my bicycle.
You never get anywhere. I drive 65mph on the interstate, unless I can get behind a semi. :)
And I think it's a great car. One of the easiest I've worked on.
    I'm happy driving 65mph and getting 45-48mpg!

    I don't drive @ <25mph.
That is the Average Speed you see on the dash. It is calculated by the total distance divided by total time (while the wheels are spinning).
I drive around 45-50mph in the city. I just don't accelerate/decelerate fast. When I see the light switched to red from a few hundred yards away, I remove my foot from the gas and let the car glide. Instead of flooring the gas and then slamming on the brakes. The result is >60mpg constant.

You do not have to drive it the way I do. But you pay more at the pump for your preference. I pay less for mine.
It is a free country, you may do as you wish...
Your Moped analogy is irrelevant. If you drive a moped maxing at 25mph, your average speed will be lot less than that. Maybe 10-15mph.

This that computed just from actual wheels spinning time, or is it from total Ignition Ready time? I thought it was the later.

The Prius is not a hot rod vehicle. If the intention is to get a quick and sexy looking chick magnet, other make/models should be considered.
I understand some drivers may not be happy driving behind a Prius. There is a left lane for that!...
It should be expected that a person who has chosen a Prius will mostly not going to go for 0 to 60 stats. He/she will drive it to maximize the fuel mileage.
I bought this car for the Fuel economy and the awesome technology that it has. It is doing its job so far and I am very happy about it.
I don't criticize others for driving their Prii the way they like, I expect the same behavior.
I normally don't talk and share much about how I drive my Prius. But since this was a 600-mile club thread, I thought people here would understand it. I see that I was a bit wrong in what I was thinking.

It must be the wheel spinning time otherwise for all the time you sit at the stop light, the time will work against you and will reduce your average speed. I am pretty sure Toyota engineers were smart enough to think about this detail.

And this could easily be confirmed right after resetting the computer. Just drive and come to a stop and wait a bit to see if the value will go down. If I remember, I will check it out next time I fillup and reset the computer.

My My My.... I know what the "average mpg" is.
I'm not "whining" about how anyone drive. Drive as slow or fast as you want.
    Just not around me. :)
There is NO reason to be so defensive.
I got the Prius because I was tired of averaging 20mpg in my van. I don't need all the space it
provided except on some occasions. I drive about 600 miles a week.
So my 45+mpg is 100+% of what I was getting. I'm spend less than have of what I spending for gas.
    And I'm driving 5mph faster!
If you can't understand most of the people here just express their opinion to what someone writes,
and that it is NOT knocking what someone said, then you shouldn't be posting.

But do you know what the average mph is? It has nothing to do with your comment "Who only wants to drive <25mph all the time?". That is not applicable here. The comment is not even appropriate. You are whining because you suggest people should do something different ("you might as well get a moped" "not around me") because it does not suit your views.

You don't get it either. READ what I typed.
    NOT whining!
    NOT suggesting anyone drive anyway!

I am reading exactly what you write.

"Who only wants to drive <25mph all the time?"
How is that comment appropriate when you know that average 23 mph does not mean that he drives <25 mph all the time
"You might as well get a moped."
Telling someone to do his car away because you think he drives so slowly.
    "You never get anywhere."
Well, you do. You just need double the time then when you're averaging 46 mph. But that's just not possible everywhere. I'm guessing he is in an urban environment. That will give you a totally different average speed than a rural environment or driving on the highway.
"Drive as slow or fast as you want.Just not around me. :)"
So when you are around I have to drive your speed? Don't think so.
