600 Mile Club

I don't have a picture of the HSI , because this happened last summer. I'm pretty sure I can duplicate these results this summer: 685 miles , driving on flashing pip for last 50 miles. Even my first full tank ( filled early May 2015 ) was 624 miles. My drive is 34 miles ( 24 highway,10 suburban.) I stay close to 55 MPH on the highway part, and P&G in the suburban parts ( where possible). On the best tanks , I do sometimes take the "scenic route" ( non-highway) home a few times a week. I'm gunning for a 700 mile tank this summer. Running 45 psi in my mediocre 44psi Yokohama 15"s.

 

You will nail it. What was your mpg? At least 57 mpg if you did 685 miles using all 11.9 gallons. If you actually got 62 mpg, you still had a gallon left in the tank. Did you run the AC?

Requirements:

• A picture of your HSI display with the required number of miles

• A description of your techniques (doesn't have to be exhaustive) and conditions - just gliding and not so aggresive on speed pedal
  
• Time of year - may/june /80% of the petrol tank with AC on manualy setted up to 22 degrees C within eco settings.
  
• How long you ran on the blinking low-fuel warning light - 100km /petrol for another 100km still left in tank/
  
• Wheel and tire setup - 17" default toyota tyres, preasure I do not know, regular from toyota service

About 2 years ago I also tried to reach 700miles and ended being a member here with only 12 miles off 700 miles. Misery do love company lol.

Common, I do better mpg with my old skoda octavia than this... 700miles is a must

No, no what about cost of your produced energy, you needed to drive a bike? Divided by a small distances driven by bike, you will became a mpg lama guru

 

Uh, I built an electric-assist bicycle and calculated the MPGe using the EPA method for electric cars (battery charging watts consumed to-wheel) plus a measure of food-burned coloric MPG for my muscular output (table food consumed-to-wheel). The actual result was slightly over 5000 mpg. So not infinite, but bicycle plus electric motor will do small trips (ours was a 24-mile jaunt) quite well and extremely efficiently compared to any automobile. Haven't analyzed the efficiency of electric motorcycles yet, though.

 

Wow 5000mpg . I was like, driving a bike is usualy in summer, so you drink much more, like 5beers per 100km ) and that is the same as cost of petrol for 100km so same mpg like car.

 

Almost 2 years ago, I tried reaching 700 miles, failed by a hair, and ended up here

So this year I'm aiming for that 700 miles again. The difference with this attempt is I now averaged 3.4l/100km (69mpg) instead of just 3.7l/100km (63mpg).

But in case I fail 700 again , here's my pic last night at 600miles (960km) for this club:



If all goes well, I should hit 700 miles tonight or tomorrow. Wish me luck!...

Hello Guys!!!

First of all just want to say that I am a very proud owner of my 3rd gen Prius and would like to share a little success story of my MPG’s.

I purchased the most basic gen 3 in 2014. My commutes were 65miles round trip five days a week and so I definitely needed a Prius in my life. I noticed the manufacture MPG’s we looking a little low and so I was determined to break their stats. And so it begins.

The tank almost always fills up at 9.??? gallons every time. With the car completely stock, I was able to squeeze 610 miles out of the car. Which was roughly 68MPG city/highway combined and I couldn’t be more happier.

Over the year I began modding the car from visual to full suspension such as Hotchkis front and rear sway bars, Tein coilovers, 17x7.5 Enkei PF01, Tanabe strut bar, and Cusco braces. Not surprisingly, the MPG’s went down. Now the car is getting roughly 535 miles on a full tank and averaging 57MPS city/highway combined.

Not only did I lose about 10MPG’s but in return I gained so much control of the car. The ride is much stiffer and responsive, reduces body role and puts a smile of my face driving down on canyon roads.

Prius is an amazing work of art. I recommend Prius to all my family and friends because it is a life changer.

 

I assume the mpg drop was mostly due to the 17s? If so you could pop the original tires back on , pump them up, and try for the 700-mile club? Or 800-mile club?
I'm used to roll-over-and-die suspensions from 1950s era US cars and VW beetles, so don't notice it myself, but after some recent country driving my passengers did comment on the body roll! Which of those components you installed gives the most "bang for the buck" in controlling body lean?

 

Yes, wheels do drop MPG's quit a bit but additional add one also play a role in mpg drop. But all for the greater good. I'm
