I doubt they would want a Toyota fan boy qualified mechanic public servant then, but if they do Adelaide is the perfect test site.
But it won't happen so I'll just keep being myself like I always have.
    Bloody tough being someone else!

Of course you'll want to test the batteries in the South Florida heat. I commute 70 miles (80% highway) daily and have been a GenII/GenIII owner for 4 years.

Pick me, pick me; pleeeease! :clap2:

Someone has too much time on their hands. I would have thought 'herding cats' at PCD would have been enough. <grins>

Letter from Toyota after requesting to be part of the trial:

Thank you for contacting Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc.
We appreciate your interest in environmental technologies used by Toyota and for you willingness to take part in the Prius plug-in hybrid trial period.
Toyota is planning to deliver test lithium battery-powered Prius plug-in hybrids to commercial fleet customers in the United States and other parts of the world in 2009. Although we hope some day to sell plug-in hybrids to retail customers, the only thing we have announced is that we will place several hundred plug-in Prius vehicles in commercial fleets by the end of next year.
As much as we want to speed the latest hybrid technology to the public, we have vowed as a company to not release new systems until they are reliable and ready for everyday use. One of the best ways to help ensure that is through rigorous testing in fleets that do a tremendous amount of driving in all types of weather and road conditions.
To view the most current information regarding the new announcement, please visit
The Plug-in Prius: Waiting is the Hardest Part for Dealers and Customers - Pressroom : Our Point of View Post / Toyota
We apologize; additional information on the Toyota Prius Plug-In is currently unavailable at this time.
Toyota will release information such as styling, specifications, feature & options, closer to the launch date. Please visit Toyota Cars, Trucks, SUVs & Accessories to check for updates as they become available.
We are committed to manufacturing vehicles with the most sophisticated and advanced technology that will help ensure high quality vehicles that have made Toyota a leader in the automotive industry. In the same respect, we are also developing technologies that will allow for more efficient and environmentally conscious power trains.
If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to Toyota Help contact us.

Perhaps they should simply auction them off. Then those that want them the most, and would be willing to pay for the privilege, would get them. This would give everyone an even chance.

Hey, if you really like to have a plugin hybrid, why wait? Take the matter into your hand. You can convert it with a complete simple Li-ion PHEV conversion kit by Enginer under $2000. It is available on ebay. Search by keyword, phev. This is real.
