Time for PiP? As it doesn't need block heater to avoid short trip penalty. Just use the EV miles :)

    I think it's pretty clear :D

April - Showcase the Gen IV & they announce hybrid system is much cheaper which is why Gen IV will be the SAME PRICE with "evolutionary" improvements. That being said, current Gen IIIs prices will reflect the "cheaper" hybrid system, and it'll give them a chance to fly off the shelves for a few months.

Notice PiP and Prius are the exact same time. Know that Gen IV has both coming out at the same time. Now this is "Production" so we would expect a release later in the year.

I would also note Prius C and V. I don't know how to interpret those, but it would be crazy if Toyota somehow refreshed the entire product line. Perhaps there will be one more year with them, or perhaps there will be an intermittent design (V with 7 seats, C with new system).

    I'm getting excited ;)

The IV plug-in (20-mile range? Yes, please!) is calling to me.

More "range" based on what measure? ... since it varies depending upon driving conditions.

In other words, references to kWh capacity is much more informative.

    Yes, let's aim for 8.8 kW :p

Not really since range also varies depending upon vehicle weight, air drag, etc.
They may have the same kWh yet increase the range by 20%. Or, they could double the kWh yet not get a full doubling of the range due to weight.

True, but it's a little more useful than saying the range. Because if we simply go by range, some of us already have 20 mile PiP during the summer. ;)

From the chart, I'm thinking 2015 Prius is going to be a carryover, not all-new.

If that's true, I guess I'll be holding onto my C for another year.
And sorry for the previous nonspecific variable usage of the term range...how about more juice coupled with greater efficiency? ;)

How so cycledrum? Are the Prius' final order date usually in May?

I thought I read somewhere that the aim for the 4th gen was fall 2014, but it may be pushed back to 2015 spring? Maybe it's just my head. We won't know more until a few months at least :p

All of the models 2014 final order dates are about the same as Prius. Most other models are carryovers. Wouldn't that make Prius a carryover?

    8.8kWh like this?

Hopefully, clever Toyota engineer found a better way to package higher capacity, such as under rear seats like Prius c.

Prius and PiP 4th gen was more of a guaranteed earlier release than v and c, at least Toyota insinuated that way.

I cannot foresee an announcement, "Buy the New 2015 Prius, Gen III"

I don't know why I can't see it. I can see, "All New Prius, the next generation of the #1 hybrid!"

I think it was also prior to this time of the month that Toyota announced the 2014 Prius being a roll-over. But there is no word right now on the 2015

I am holding back on upgrades to my 2010 G3P5adv-pkg. Realy would like to get spec, pictures, price and releas date on G4P. I wish Toyota could at least provide an anoucment date. I got my 2010 G3P in July of 2009. Seems like Toyota is a bit behind with this announcement.Toyota's web site does not even show Prius G4P car as a future release. I find this frustrating. I guess Toyota is afraid it may impact sales by sharing before reducing inventory of G3P

Everytime the site crashes i think it's an exclusive announcement of the G4. That being said, Dianne has gone silent, there's no news since January, there's no announcement of a carry-over year on any site (and this time last year I think we knew 2014 was a carry-over year).

Toyota is prepping an announcement for the solid figures and specs of the car.

But it won't be this month. And we won't year any news this month

Thanks 4 the update... As we say in the military I guess we hurry up and wait. Seems like we should be getting something very soon.

I have noticed a number of deeply discounted adds locally for new 2013 that remain unsold. That would occur normally, but the intensity of the adds suggest to me that Toyota does not want left over 2013 with a new fresh model arriving.

    Change of subject:
I read in Consumer Report that after years of experience with the the Prius NV battery, it would appear that the HV battery has a life span of about 10 years. I find that remarkable. Many of you contributors praise the Li-on battery chemistry. I am not so sure that if given a choice, I would discard the old, tried and proven, reliable battery for the new technology in the G4. But, we may not get a choice.

Have any of you out there read reports on the Li-on longevity? There was so much negative information for a while on the subject in general, I was just wondering.
