4th generation coming 2015!

My experience exactly. If I get sore driving, poor posture is the cause.

 

I hope they announce the Gen4 this year. My guess they wouldn't because 2014 is around the corner and they want those to sell.

I sit up well when driving, but my fear is when my knees and shins get closer to the dash, they are more likely to get broken in a front end collision, despite and maybe because of the knee airbag.

It is so maddening to see a seat that slides farrrrr back, but cannot utilize most of it because wheel so far. Maddening!!!

And all the shorter legged people laughed and said 'haha, would suck to be you! hahaha'

At least I know Accord is really good for me, but first year model, or 30 MPG combined or expensive unproven new Hybrid? eeeek.

Middle of next year spy photos should be heating way up. Maybe a blue-man crew leak.

 

I suppose I should look at threads of other vehicles to see if there are as many complain as there are on this thread about the Prius.

Here is my question: If everything is so wrong with the Prius, why did you buy it?

Fortunately, I am very happy with my G3 (2010). It has 71500+ miles on it. It has not been in the shop other than oil changes and 1 set of tires; I average (calculated) 52.5 mpg for the life of the vehicle; I driven it across country and back 4 times, and preparing for a 5th trip. I am 6'3" and find it very comfortable.

 

I'll bet your inseam is 34" or less.

At the time, must not have known about the test to determine good distance from steering wheel - " wrist should lay over top of wheel, arm straight, no leaning forward from seatback"

Knew the wheel was far away, but it seemed 'just' good enough from what I knew. Time with it has taken some toll.

Did not want 28 mpg sedan, not interested in Camry hybrid at time (still not), don't trust Ford, Honda hybrids a no go.

Now, I have a question for Toyota - What would it take you to make the steering wheel have a greater range of adjustment, 4 ounces of metal? I could feel room behind stopper to extend column shank. 1 1/2" seems to be industry standard, but does that match 11 inches of seat travel??? In who's ergonomic world?

I like plenty of room for my knees too, if your sitting with bottom back in his seat, it creates plenty of room for your knees.

I do like leaning my right elbow on the console and would miss it if it was gone.

But some cars fit people like a glove and others dont... An important consideration when you buy since you spend do much time in it.

You brought up the Toyota seat designers so STOP being hypocritical!!

We certainly hope that part of the 2015 redesign are comfortable ergonomic seats. The current model Prius hatchback seats are clearly poor design and garner many complaints.

 

My friend, who is 6'7" with an inseam longer than 36" told me he finds his 2012 to be comfortable to drive.

 

"My friends" always agree with us...funny that.

 

Years ago I heard PCers say things like ' I'm 6'7" tall and fit in my Gen 2 Prius just fine"

I say 'I'd like to see a picture of that'.

 

I am 6'6 with a 35" inseam and have not needed the Extend My Seat brackets that my 2008 did.

 

I ought to ask that guy if he can make an 'extend my wheel' spacer for Prius.

 

This is cooky, but scooting driver's seat forward an extra notch or two might just be the ticket (3 notches forward from full back. was using 1 forward for over 6 months, never tried 3 forward). Hopefully won't complain about cramped legs.

Sitting too far from the wheel makes me feel less secure and it's dangerous: If you crash with straight arm on wheel, it might break your arm.

This subject has been the topic of discussion on PC for the past many weeks. I think the general consensus of opinion is the 2014 will be a "place holder." The feeling seems to be the 2014 will be little changed. I suspect the often spoke of G4 will be introduced as a 2015, further, I predict it will appear early, perhaps mid-year. Not everyone agrees with that opinion. Time will tell.

Even today, however, I was looking at several automotive magazine web-sites. The competition is forging forward and will soon close the advantage gap that the Prius had enjoyed over the competition. Several are introducing eye appealing models with very good fuel efficiency made possible by innovative technology.

Personally, I don't suppose the buying public will be too excited about a "warmed over" 2014 Prius.

 

What are the competing models that come close? The EPA designated 47 mpg with the C-Max has Ford under a class action lawsuit. Supposedly the EPA test drove it and while 90% city it was like 50 mpg, and then mixed it was 45 and pure city was 40 mpg.

at 55 seconds when the NS4 has the See-Through Solar Sun Roof and it's trickling to the battery? Seriously?

Why are they showing this when there is such doubts on solar in cars. I'm excited over it but also skeptic, but why else would Toyota show it? Watch it be 'Cooling the batteries' instead of charging.

btw, MPG nutcase, those Gen 4 drawings look like crap. Car like that would sell no more than 10,000 units in a year in US.

 

I could not agree with you more. The sketch was obviously "inspired" by the NS4, which is graceful and esthetically pleasing, but the sketch is clumsy, and poorly rendered.

I don't see one aspect of the design that I like. Not only would I not want a copy in my garage, I would not enjoy seeing them in traffic on the road. Remember the Pontiac Aztec? That vehicle was so ugly I turned my head away so as to not look at it.

OTOH, I am reasonably confident that the 2015 will not bear much resemblance to the sketch.
