This was apparently mentioned in a German Toyota magazine but there has been no official announcement from Toyota. So, not a sure thing.

Here is a link to a list of cars that have been announced for the Frankfurt show. The Prius is not on the list:

Would it be on that list I wonder? All the president of Toyota of USA said was that it would be soon and there thoughts/implications it would be the Frankfurt show. So what counts as soon from what, mid June? I'd say a few months which is September or October. Longer than 1/4 of a year I wouldn't say soon. My guess is there is a surprise.

But anyone remember how the Gen III was unveiled? Was there an announcement at the auto show? Or was it a surprise. I do believe I remember internet early leaks before the actual debut...

Uh, Germany developed "synthetic" fuel production back in 1940's...read your history books.

We know the 2016 starts production Nov 30 this year. It should arrive in January 2016. I don't see it being officially unveiled any later than October. That gives time for VIPs to drive the pre-production model and get customers amped about it. I don't think it will be unveiled in October.

The weird thing is this is all going to be happening during T'giving and Christmas holidays, a time when many are distracted. Then when the car arrives, people will be starting into taxes.

I know for gen 3, it was known it would absolutely have worldwide unveil at the Detroit auto show mid Jan. 2009. I don't know how early that was known.

Automotive News published an article on July 13th indicating that the 2016 Prius was "due to be unveiled in the third quarter". If correct, it would have to be before the end of September 2015.

Now THAT is funny. "it would have to be before...". Yup, everything you read in the paper and on the internet must be true. ;)

The GIII introduction started for us with "sneak puzzle peaks" at small details on the car - images posted here by the Prius Group at Toyota US. For us to guess what they were. Kept us busy, and avoided a very long forum topic like this one. It was revealed at car shows, and we were able to get "invitations", including a breakfast at the show. Great fun.

I hope the Toyota techs showing the "Prototype" (with a large "Prototype" label on the top of the windshield) were not too upset as I examined the car -VERY- closely, including removal of wheel covers, 12V battery cover, etc. I did properly replace everything. Never saw those wheels again in any Toyota production model, so I guess it really WAS a "Prototype".
The public were not allowed to touch the car. Wow, I guess I should feel "special". :)

It was not so much an attack on FriarNurgle in particular but his remark illustrates the general rule in the US (and most probably in most other countries in the world), anytime gas prices go down people buy bigger cars and travel more. I do not draw lines as everyone has different needs, habits and so on but it is nonetheless sad that people (in general) don't see what's coming or don't care. The latter being the worse by the way, "I don't have children and I'll be dead by 2030, so I'll do whatever pleases me, screw them all !".

And a Prius driver who commutes 8 miles and doesn't venture out much is better for the environment (could still be a dickhead anyway :D) than the guy in the Tahoe. Unless the guy in question needs a Tahoe because he needs to carry things or goes offroad or any other "factual" reason, I'm thinking he could let go some of his "luxury" for the common good :) I for example barely fit my wife and 3 young childrens in the Prius, and now that I can afford the type of car that I was dreaming of when I was young I just restrain myself from buying one because I think my selfish pleasure should not be more important than the future of our planet, even if as a priviledged being I would barely be impacted by what's going to happen in the decades to come.

I hope the G4 will attract a lot of buyers because it looks good and drives well, even at 2$ a gallon ;)

With oil now at $46/ BBL hybrid and electric cars will be a hard sale. Even more so if the U.S. Government imposes
extra taxes and fees on hybrid and electric car owners with the passage of the U.S. Highway Fund bill.

If taxes and fees are too high prospective hybrid and electric car buyers will not buy as usually those buyers are serious and usually
higher educated purchasers on large ticket items. Buyers with good intentions for saving gas and not supporting some middle east countries who are not our friends will not be given any or no thought by the government when imposing those fees. No good deed goes unpunished....

Thanks, Ill do that! I mainly posted the link for those who still think the car is going to be debuted/released in September based on a Toyota magazine that was probably printed last January or earlier.

Test mules often feature other model parts, and in this case the dash is one of them. I wouldn't imagine a car in production with such a design error: a window greater than the inside view angle.
