So with the lower gas prices we've decided to take our Subaru Forester on vacation instead of our Prius. It's really only about $70 price difference in gas (PA to SC). Figured it is worth spending the extra money to have a quieter and more conformable ride. Also has a little more back seat space for the kids and dog (back seats recline a little in the Forester). Think that is one of the big challenges Toyota and other hybrid manufacturers face with the low gas prices. Hopefully the new Prius will have more sound deadening while still improving on MPG.

TomTom had this feature in their PND called "TomTom Buddy". That was canned around 2010. Perhaps TomTom was too far ahead of its time.

Hey, man, could you describe the forester's interior in a few words - is it as comfy as Prius's? And especially the cabin?

I'm always puzzled that so much people are driven by their wallet, "Gas is cheaper ? Great I can consume more gas !".... Then in 20/30/40 years from now when the whole world will be a mess they will blame on politicians and oil lobbies, never questionning themselves although they were aware of the consequences, sad :(

I feel that Toyota is focusing on the looks of the Hybrid to give a different meaning to them. Tesla has already given a different meaning on where tech meets an electric car. I wish someone would do that to an HV/gas car, but remember Toyota's NS4 concept? That was innovative. Perhaps the Gen IV starts to turn the tide on HV vs conventional.

It is confirmed that the car is even faster, more efficient and looks better.

Will Infotainment live up to expectations? And what about Toyota Sienta lol

i don't remember the last generation's moves, i live in the present. i have 3 children who are having as much effect on the earth as i am. and a father, wife, brother, etc., etc., etc.

we're going to run out of fossil fuels sooner or later, it might as well be sooner. then the earth can start cooling again. (i just like to throw that in to stir the hornets nest)

Where do you draw the line though? Couldn't a Leaf driver say their car is cleaner than your Prius?
How many times a year or more do you think the vacationer goes on a family trip? Also, the vacationer probably commutes in a Prius.

BTW, is a Prius driver who willingly commutes 70 miles a day a 'better person' than a Chevy Tahoe driver who commutes 8 miles a day and doesn't venture out much?

Guilt trips and 'you should be ashamed of yourself' just don't work so well here in the states. That attitude draws all sorts of ire. Google the movie 'The Other Guys Prius tribute' a bigscreen movie. And there's so much more dissing on Prius that's occured.

Now, what would be really smart would be for Toyota to be extremely clever this time around, somehow make this new Prius look a good bit 'sleeker', handle the road better, be quieter and I will say it one more damn time .....

Fix the freakin' liftback interior (gen3), I think it SUCKS !!!!

We aren't going to run out of fossil fuels anytime soon. Remember the quip, "The stone age didn't end because they ran out of stones?" Same with the horse and buggy - didn't run out of those either. Just moving on to something cheaper and better.
