I think it is unlikely that the rear taillights would extend that far down at the corner angle!
    what do you think?

The Autoblog spy shots obscure what is a really important detail: independent rear suspension.

Another detail is transverse muffler... and no chassis-bottom fairing in that area.

    Picture 10 - Spied: 2016 Toyota Prius

Also, those fang taillights look legit. they show in the spy shots. Almost every detail, aside from side sculpting, seems reflected in the spy shots.

The 2016 will be "more of a drivers car". Keep in mind the average minivan out accelerates and out handles the existing model so the bar isn't set too high. I guess I shouldn't complain, it couldn't handle worse than my 10 year old wobble wagon. I just hope it doesn't look sportier than it is.

Uhm..! look at the difference of the rear bumpers, could be hybrid vs. Phev.

Can't say the independent rear suspension means anything, though. Consider that the Camry has long had an IRS, and has always had the personality of a log... while the VW Golf, up until the current generation, has had a torsion beam and has always been regarded positively for its handing traits.

And I wouldn't be so quick to denigrate the handling capabilities of the current model.

The third link in your post is the one I remember seeing sometime in the year 2008 (late Summer / Fall)

ah, was posted early July 2008 ...

Autoblog Socal '16 Prius photos posted today. This must be a staged photo session in camouflage. I'm convinced this is the 2016 gen 4 Prius.

2016 Toyota Prius: Our best look yet

Looks as though roof peak has moved forward more like gen 2

The front perspective of that series of spy shots suggests that we are looking at the hybrid (see the Dali mustache intakes) and not the PHEV... unless they are deliberately mixing up fascias.

Also, no fuel or charge port in the "brochure" photos? What's up with that!

They're there. Look for the pair of fins at the centre behind (i.e. towards the rear of the car) the muffler.

Also, test cars may not include all the underbody panels depending on what they're testing.

Me too! Have to see it in person though. Photos can hide details like curves and dips. It's a bit more conservative than the green one. Maybe the bumper will be shorter than in this picture given the recent spyshot. It's a lot of car to push through the air.

I like the 4 LED headlights and the vertical LED DRL/Yellow blinker similar to the Mirai's

    Sunroof Please!

I have felt like the design has been moving towards the older Celica for several years
