Not too different to my situation as I am also looking to upgrade within the next year or so. The NX 300h is already on my shortlist.

I just can't imagine why Toyota has been so backward in the styling department lately. Okay let's take another car of similar size to the Prius C and also from a Japanese manufacturer - who else thinks the new Mazda 2 looks better?

Regarding the report we have heard is that a Toyota executive nixed the Prius design thus delaying introduction for 6 months or so, hopefully, it was the pouty lip design. Doesn't it remained you of the hollywood women that get a really bad lip job ..... all puffy, swollen and out of proportion.

I sorta like the Mazda above. Personally, I think the Hyundai is marketing a very pleasing design ..... almost across the board. But I am not going to buy one, regard;less pf what Consumer Report says.

+1 for all of those words, so… +3

If Toyota does that to the GenIV, then I'm out of the game in the next round. What group of nutjobs at any car company would think that pig of a design looks appealing enough to release on the market? Yeah, if you're driving it you can't see it from behind, but then everyone else is laughing at you. Some of the new Lexus cars already look hideous. Sure hope they read this forum. From the looks of their cars these days - they don't.

I'd rather a beak than a giant pouting and gaping shark maw.

Actually, I don't see a giant open mouth, just that the center part of the bumper is no longer painted! or one can just put a vanity plate!

Yeah it depends on the vehicle. The ones that work well imo are the TSX, TL and MDX. The ones that don't work are obviously the rest of the lineup (1.5G RDX, 2.5G RL, 1.5G CSX [pictured])

Reminds me of Apple forums where everyone was saying they are NEVER buying an iPhone that's a phablet and has those "hideous" antenna lines on the back.

I'll admit that the way a car looks is pretty much the very last criteria on my list, but that said the only car posted above that I'd consider ugly is the John Cooper posted just above.

And to be fair, here in the UK and in Europe, Toyota models have improved over the years in terms of design. I find the latest Toyota Auris and Auris Touring Sport models to be better than Prius Gen3 in every way.

How does that old saying go? -- "...Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder..." -- hence, the more beers, the less fuggly the beauty becomes.

Of all the depictions that we have seen over the past twelve months, this is the one I sincerely hoped for, and truthfully felt was not only a beautiful vehicle, but a reasonable evolution of the Prius design. I would have been proud to have one parked in my stable. Prius_4-20131025.JPG

You said "hoped"..Why can't we still hope? There's been no official release yet.

And something I realized, the SuperBowl was sponsored by Toyota anyway...they could've fit a spot for the 4th gen there I'm sure!

From my knowledge of aerodynamics, the rear window/hatchback area on that vehicle is *terrible* for flow-attachment, and it certainly won't better the 0.25 CdA coefficient of the current Gen-III design.

I have no knowledge of aerodynamics, so I cannot debate your comment. All I can say is what I said above: I like this depiction more than any other we have seen, and it seems like such a natural "evolution" from a very successful G3 to what I had hoped would be the G4.

I suppose with the updated hybrid system we have heard about; new upgraded interior; lighter materials ...... I think it could have been a tremendously successful 2016. In addition, IMHO, it reflects the best of the NS4.

When I think of a "sportier" Prius, I imagine something like an expanded Honda CRZ :

    prius4.png

But with a larger back-end, so that it retains its cargo capacity. At any rate, my money is on an even wedgier shape, with a lower frontal surface area.
