You know it is one thing to read everyones speculations about the new G4, but when I read that it was actually seen, and it looks like a kid's transformer toy, and then goes on to describe it in such detail ..... well it was too much.

Merry Christmas to everyone. Let's hope that 2015 will be a good year, and hopefully before this time next year we will have something to really be excited about (Prius wise).

I know Tony was just kidding!
Sometimes, companies would purposely leak infos for their names to stay in the news headlines. I agree with Felt, while entertaining, Toyota would not leak this kind of information, especially about Prius.

Remember the reason/or excuse given the last time when everyone was expecting 3rd Gen Prius a year earlier; It was said that Toyota "chose the wrong battery chemistry" and the Prius was delayed.

Hmm, interesting (apologies if it was already posted):

2016 Toyota Prius Was Delayed Due To Redesign For Sportier Style

I find it interesting that the liftback will look different than the plug-in version.

I sure hope they're not different...

The difference I would wish for is the NS4 dedicated plugin hybrid...*not* PiP and regular to look different! I love my PiP now and I love the Prius look lol.

Tick tock, more time to just theorize. But we will see the competition release! Can't wait. I hope the PiP has optional regen control like the Volt 2.0

I went back and took another hard look at the C-HR. I discovered, it is "hard to look at." It reminds me of a childs toy that transforms into something else by manipulating the various surfaces.

But let it be said .... I am still a disbeliever. Maybe there is a gimmick here. The concept is so objectionable, buyers will welcome the real design when it is released. (I'm not serious). Surely, hopefully, Toyota's design department has more talent than this. After all, the NS4 is a handsome design.

Considering the direction that the corolla took (which I very much like) and the direction the camry took (I like as well but not as much) I believe toyota will impress. It's next year folks. 2015. Lots of announcements. Get excited !!

I know the media is very much focused on the "Styling"; something Toyota seems to be scrutinized for more than any other Automaker, but I very much like the current Gen Prius and I would not change much of the exterior, except to improve on the Cd of 0.25, I would redo the center console area however.
I am more interested in the technology, e.g. improving engine thermal efficiency from 38.5 to 42%, and some "Techs" from the Hybrid-R concept of last year that we forgot about. Toyota Yaris Hybrid-R Concept - 2013 Frankfurt ...

I agree, improved TECHNOLOGY is important, but I (like many others) am afraid that Toyota will "...improve the beauty by making it ugly..." in their *new* styling effort...ie: my earlier references to asian GODZILLA / TRANSFORMER design school.

70AARCUDA - I'm sorry. I suppose I didn't read your post where you mentioned "transformer." I certainly did not mean to infringe on your thought.

Was this how people were waiting for the Gen 3? Anyone every thought it was going to look ugly granted toy never put as much emphasis of a design change ... the gen2 looked real nice...

At the risk of annoying those who are already fed up with speculation, I am going to make a few more predictions...

In the first instance, we were told there was going to be a delay and the rumour was that Toyota bosses were unhappy with G4's efficiency. Then we are told the design is not quite up to expectations so the delay is extended.

I would say the actual reason is neither of these and most importantly, that these two are probably the least likely reasons for the delay. Put yourself in Toyota's position again and imagine this super critical product development hitting unexpected delays - you are asked to make a press release and you are given a list of reasons related to the car to pick from - what would you go for? I'd say the best pick would be one that's already fully achieved, that will be the most confident and least risky excuse. That could mean Toyota has most likely already achieved its efficiency goal and it is also very likely they have an exterior design which fully meets their expectations. Now on the other hand, suppose Toyota had underestimated the effort for developing the TGNA platform, would they admit that?

Food for thought or totally irrelevant:)
