Interesting. But under public scrutiny (much like Tesla was, though in Tesla's case it was a bit too crazy) - I'd imagine GM would be extra careful with their cars from now on. The cheaper Tesla sounds interesting, don't know how it would be cheaper unless the gigafactory was created or....they release a plugin hybrid of the tesla s? lol

Lots of ways they could lower the price:
    smaller battery
    batteries get cheaper
    lower quality materials
    less bells and whistles
    smaller car
    higher volume

Personally I see all these things happening to make a $35k Tesla happen.

See! Now aren't you GLAD you weren't "...holding your breath..." waiting for the 'new' GenIV Prius to arrive (wink, wink)?

...and, feel FREE to discuss *why* the delay until MY 2016 -- I'm thinking possible switch to Li-Ion batteries (I can dream)?

Hmm, if it gets delayed, that means I have a few extra months to save up for it. Have to look at the silver lining of it too.

But they must fix the cheap plastic that warps and vibrates and makes horrible noises. Is that so hard to do?

What does this say? Why would more renditions come up if it's delayed? Although I do think we'll hear more info this year and the next...

I like this "modest" design the best. Looks like a Camry though.

As I said the magazine is not out yet (thursday), on the cover it just says:
"Next year comes the fourth generation of dady of hybrids"
"Lighter, more fuel efficient and more powerfull, again as plug-in hybrid"

That appears to be a huge improvement to the current gen.
I'm disappointed with another delay but Toyota needs to get this right without the slew of expensive recalls and lawsuits.

...and I quote (from Autoomobile article referenced above):

"However, keep in mind that all of this is just speculation. The official release date of the vehicle will only be known when Toyota decides to announce it."

I dont think anyone knows anything about Prius Gen 4, not even those here who claim to be affiated to Toyota. Then you begin to wonder why they even bothered to tell us to expect great things to come. Here in the forum, we are no wiser than the ordinary folk out there. I feel dissapointed.
