It's the elevated rear-end I've never liked about the Prius Gen 3...the front and sides look fantastic. In fact, I prefer the overall design to prior gens, which may place me in the minority.

Before I forget, look at the backside of your carpet cargo mat

Mine has 6 years 2009 through 2014 each with twelve boxes to indicate manufacturing month (mine is filled up to October of 2011 IIR)

    camera.jpg

Might this mean 3rd Gen production will end sometime in 2014?

Anyone with a 2013 / 2014 Prius? what does your cargo mat date stamp(s) show?

IMO, the Stage 10 depiction is the worst of the worst.

The drawing is clumsy, awkward, and not well coordinated. I don't like any aspect of the sketch; the grill is bad, I hate the low hood and the transition to the front windshield, but the worst aspect of the sketch is the profile .... the rear diminishing slope is terrible. If the G4 looks anything like the sketch, I will enjoy a few more years in my 2010, and search for something else.

But, I am comfortable with the thought that the G4 will not resemble the drawing.

Y2K and Mayan end of the world predictions just because they ran out of room on their displays.
Wouldn't be too hard to reprint the mats to include 2015.

lol, those pictures are all old (except the Japanese magazine one). They are like 50 or so thread pages old :p The new japanese one seems interesting though and I'd be curious to see where that goes...

Good, glad someone else caught it, too. Thought I was going crazy for a second (or could see into the future maybe).

4th Gen Prius probably not coming out this Fall. Extensively refreshed 2015 Camry coming out this Fall. That's the talk. Chances of a new Camry and Prius coming out the same time are, I think, nil.

4th gen Prius should come out in 2015, next year.

    cyclendrum,
Good point, and I certainly would not want to question your rationale.

I'm wondering. If ..... the Camry comes out this fall ..... might it have the often spoken of new hybrid system? Is the Camry more prestigious than the Prius? (as far as hybrid vehicle go). If so, perhaps, the Camry will introduce the new technology and in 2016 Prius will be the the G4 (with new sheet metal) and with the technology that was introduced in the 2015 Camry????

Camry is coming out this fall. 2015 that is. But it's not a new model. It's a refresh which is a step lower than redesign. Camry hybrid is supposedly old tech but maybe a couple mpg better at most

It was announced at teh New York auto show in April the 2015 Camry will consist of 2,000 new (redesigned) parts and is called an 'extensive' refresh. New Camry hybrid will carry over its hybrid drivetrain. All drivetrains carry over.

"Sportiness will also extend to the Camry hybrid, with a new SE modelfeaturing a new front antiroll bar, retuned shock absorber valving, and firmer control-arm bushings. The engineers have also tweaked the stability control for less-aggressive intervention.

Aside from the roof panel, the sheetmetal is all-new, conceived to add spice to the Camry’s persistently vanilla styling and create an athletic presence. Although the wheelbase is unchanged at 109.3 inches, overall length stretches 1.8 inches to an even 191, and the track expands by 0.4 inch."

For me the 2015 camry appearance is much improved from the previous model.

If the GenIV Prius has a lower front end like the 2015 Camry, then I'm out. The rest of it looks decent though.

The new Camry looks fine but could have been better. European cars are way ahead in terms of design - just look at a Vauxhall (Opel) Insignia, Peugeot 508 or Mercedes C-Class. Even Mazda seem to be coming up with great designs these days.

Toyota seem to be very good at coming up with fantastic concept designs but the production versions somehow end up looking just "okay". The only exception was Prius G3 - one of the many reasons I got one.

I just hope G4 will look more futuristic - perhaps like the NS4 :)

Who to believe? I feel old on this forum considering my 1 year anniversary...

    2014 Toyota Prius Five review - chicagotribune.com

Cites Toyota will actually show the Gen IV this fall for release 2015 model year.

Or believe this? The 2016 Toyota Prius will top 60 MPG - Torque News

Cites 2016 Prius model year, but that the 4th gen will go above 60 mpg.

I love the idea of 60+ mpg but I think standard tests will have it at 55 mpg. Even then, it's a winner because I know some savvy drivers will push 60 regularly. But who shall we believe?

A year ago I came here because of theories, spy shots, etc...never thought it would pass so fast with me checking the forums, news over and over...
