I've been looking and thinking about the Car & Driver prediction for the G4. Earlier, I judged it to be a "clumsy depiction." I hope that is what it is. I really do not care for it. I read some of the responses on Car & Driver's website, and many were even more pointed in their displeasure with the depiction than those expressed on PC.

I'm encouraged that the shrouded test mule does not appear to be identical with the C & D sketch. We'll just need to be patients and see what develops. Because of some personal decisions, I will not be buying a G4 the first year anyway (assuming it will be a model year 2015 released the latter part of 2014). We shall see.

    Yes.

Yeah, if you have winters below freezing and don't have a supercharger anywhere on your route and drive 220 miles a day, that would be pushing it.
We drive an average of 65-70 miles a day with weekly 120-150 mile days. So it works great for us.
I know a realtor that puts 30k a year on his Model S. He figures he is saving 5-6k a year in fuel costs over the SUV he used to drive around.

Everyone's requirements are different though. And as plug ins are fairly new, the options and capabilities will continue to grow! Exciting times we live it:)

I expect the Prius to adopt a front-end look similar to that used over here across the Auris, Verso and RAV4 - it's the new Toyota 'family' look. The North America 2014 RAV4 has the same front end as the European RAV4.

It's possible that, like the Yaris Hybrid (but unlike my new Auris) that the top half of that grille will be covered - assuming that they don't put active shutters on it.

Argh, maybe I'm wrong after all about the 4th debuting in April at the New York Show.

There's a rumor that the 2015 Camry will debut (considered a refresh) at the show. I don't think Toyota would show two major flagships....

Damn, we should just sit on all our expectations and enjoy our current vehicles especially if they're paid of!

Toyota press releases are a LOT like the "...give them nothing, leave them wanting more..." responses boys often get from pretty women who've been asked for dates (wink, wink).

There are rumors that the next Camry will debut as a 'refreshed' design, so not a complete redesign but something that's refreshing...And I bet the hybrid will debut as well.

So, my question is, will the Gen IV hybrid system finally be there? Or do you guys think it only make sense to show the new Hybrid system with the Gen IV Prius?

Considering the Camry is expected to 'wow' people it would only make sense that Toyota will show this first and unfortunately we may have to wait a couple more months to see the next gen Prius.

    I could be wrong though!

A refresh rarely changes much about a car. Definitely not a drivetrain change.

Of course the Camry debut will only be a refresh ... this gen only came out in 2012. It's in the 3rd model year only.

Just got this update from a local dealer:

I just wanted to follow up with you regarding the body style change on the Prius. I spoke with the regional manager of the NY Region for Toyota and this is what he told me.

"No change for 2015 Prius. New body style will be in 2016 next August/sept." I just wanted to let you know. Originally they were going to change it for the 15 but the new body change will be for the 16 model but will be out in August/September of 15.

Similar to what I guessed not too long ago in your thread ( Buy now or wait for '15? | PriusChat ) and elsewhere on here long ago. I don't gamble, but maybe I should, lol.

Still, it's great to guess and speculate but it's only 100% when Toyota comes out with it via a press release, surprise unveil etc.

Very interesting. I can only assume the new design is not coming together as planned. With market share slipping some, I would also assume that Toyota would have preferred to introduce the G4 in 2015. Too bad.

I don't suppose any other manufacturer will overtake the Prius, but they are closing the gap. When you are the recognized leader, everyone else is in the chase. We shall see what develops.

OTOH ..... do we trust the word of a NY "Regional Manager?" In this day and age, I'm suspicious of everything I'm told.

Well, at least it's NOT coming from a gooberment spokesperson, so THAT alone raises it's credibility-level UP a notch or two (wink, wink)!
