It just looks like some college project to me, or possibly a Toyota competitor to the Honda CRV.

Toyota are ultra conservative and unlikely to kill their golden goose.

 

I think the NS4 is more likely model for the 2015 Prius than the stylized sketch. Function driving form in the case of the Prius.

As for looks, I wouldn't buy a Prius until they gave it some styling edge which they did in 2010 literally with edges on the sides and sharper angles. I think that is true for a lot of customers as style sells a lot of cars and Prius has gone from cult classic to mainstream.

 

I'm with you! It's about time they up their game in sportiness... Reminds me of a corvette with the lines on the sides, and the wheels finally don't look like kiddie cart wheels.

Seems every car manufacturer has copied the prius... Yep the ugly ducking that no one liked at first now looks like them all!

Toyota is again gambling with a new look to be the forerunner once again.

However many really cool classy prototypes do you see pictures of that never hit the market?

People don't like change... Especially if it's different than every one else.

I thought prius owners liked to stand out?
Well they don't anymore... It's hard to tell the difference on the freeway between a prius and most other cars anymore from a distance.

Agreed, it no longer stands out since everyone has copied it. I love the new look.... Especially if you don't mind looking 20 years younger driving it!

NAIAS is mid January, right? Toyota might drop a vid like blue man crew for the 2010 in Dec. '14 and they'll show all the pics following month, if things go like they did for the 3rd gen.

 

It does share some design cues with the FT-BH



I still think the current generation looks better.

 

The ft-bh looks a bit like a locust from the front... Not sure about aerodynamics.
The rear looks like a waste of space with those big fins.
Prototypes have to be extreme to get attention, om sure it will be toned down quite a bit like they always are.
