(bolding mine) It would probably be close, based on the improvement on the eAssist Regal (25%).

With everyone here so fixated on the CS operation of the car (11% of my miles, 2% last month), has anyone ever bothered to try to figure out who the Chevy Volt calibrator was and simply ask about it? I've heard of this Google thing.

According to the data GM released, owners put 1/3 of their miles with premium gas. Yours is one sample of the ~2,700 total.

1/3 of the miles on premium gas is significant. Remember, the hype made us believe 80% would be on electric. Reality is short of the claim and gas engine efficiency and emission are turning out to be even more importantly than it was downplayed.

Dude, hes telling you reality and you're countering with generalizations, not the other way around.

mfennel's reality is 89% EV, mine's about 69%, others will be higher and others lower, its about how YOU use it that matters. You're going to see exactly the same thing with the PHV, drivers with different commutes and driving routines will get widely different results, and thats ok.

Truth about Volt, from the hype and the real world results to date: Most drivers use EV for most of their miles.

I was not refuting yours or his number. I was simply pointing out the average from a larger sample size vs. cherry picking a few (not accusing of doing that, just saying).

I agree with the wide swing depending on how you use it. The average number is the important one.

Don't we already have 2 threads with the same people arguing about the Volt? Can we keep it contained to the Volt forum please?

^^ we could, but GM needs the help ;)
Outside of gm-volt.com and a thread or two here, who even remembers that the Volt exists ?

Actually a lot of people know about Volt. A lot more than Leaf for eg., there was a survey published sometime back on this.

Getting back to the topic. Do you still think Prius PHV would cost $40k?

No, I think $5,000 over a Prius Two, and after the tax credit, it should cost about 2,000 dollars more and that will make this a no-brainer. Depending on capacity, there is a very good chance that this will sell more that the regular Prius. I think California alone can buy 16,000 PHVs.

Ok so current prices on II are about $26K (at least here in La).
    26 + 5 = $31K Subtract the credit $3K - 28K..

You really think they gonna sell the car for 28K??? If they do, I suspect your estimation will be correct...

If I can get a Plug-in Prius for only 2K more than the regular.. wow!!!

I still see it a good bit higher than that... not too much longer to wait....

I'll bet they offer a lease deal at $350 a month

The 28k+ price for entry price for the plug in won't have entune or various other features the the next levels will have. Still it will have a backup camera and iPod connection which more or less what I'd want.

I don't think toyota would be able to sell the 20,000 plug in Prii here if the entry price was 35k. At least the magazines in Japan don't think so!

Toyota is not going to price their plug in out of reach. They will probably take into consideration the world economy and the offerings from other compitition. If the price is reasonable Toyota might just trump the other players from the start. Wishful thinking at least.

Toyota announces prices when the car can be ordered. That is still a ways down the road. November or so, IIRC.

Production will begin in Jan 2012 so you should be able to order by Thanksgiving or before Christmas.

    seawolf,

From what source are you pulling your production estimate? Only reason I ask is because some people were saying the fleet chart estimations could be off.

these are for fleets... 2012 Camry's are arriving to lots these days, and not in 2 months as written there :)
