Engine swap will be a better option to give your car new power with a high performance output. As there most people are looking forward with this option as buying a new car with high investment.

Rebuild engine comes with half of price than a brand new engine, as some auto store available online provide better engine with quality assurance as "hiperformer" auto store, where anyone can find any of car make engine with less pricing.

Sadly, the OP doesn't seem to have gotten back to us. This was his only thread.

From his numbers he's probably put another 50,000 miles on the car since then. You resurrected an old thread.

    I doubt he's listening.

I would go to any 10W40 High Mileage. I prefer Mobil 1, However I have used the Castrol High Mileage formulation on other older vehicles with GREAT success at slowing oil consumption. Almost every brand has a formulation for High Mileage cars, and a 10W40 weight is still suitable for State College PA. I wouldn't switch to anything thicker except for maybe summer only as it is much too cold in PA in the winter.

Also if the emission testing is like it is here in Ohio they don't even hook the sniffer to the tailpipe at all on vehicles 1997 and newer. Its a simple plug in the OBDII port, scan for all emission systems are operating and in a readiness state (ie if your check engine light is off when you arrive you pass assuming that you didn't just clear the codes and not complete the necessary drive cycles.

I think it was my car Avi had the luck with. I was burning oil like mad, he changed out my oil filter, put in some Seafoam and I hardly burned any between oil changes. About a quart I think he said.

155,000+...actually more than that as they had to replace my screen and had to estimate my mileage because it was ordered from Japan (it was still under warranty), so closer to 158,000.

Cool. How did Avi induce the sf? There's no vac hose handy anywhere or just pour it in the crank case?.

That, I'm sorry, but I don't know, you would have to ask him.

Most oil companies make an oil formulated for engines with a lot of miles. Try a 10W-30 high mileage oil, brand of your choice. Also there is an oil additive called "Restore" that along with a high mileage oil, made a very worn 88 Dodge Caravan decrease oil consumption by 50%
