No idea what a U/B code means, if it's the fault codes the computer throws, I don't really want to know :lol: If you mean has the car been in a flood, no, that's one of the few things it hasn't been through, but with 760,000km about to roll up on the clock, as long as it goes each time we press the button, I reckon we are still on a winner. It's not like it gets treated with kid gloves, it is the business workhorse as well as the daily driver, regularly tows a 6 x 4 box trailer loaded to the top with what ever needs to be moved, from solar panels to bins full of empty beer bottles to the recycler, heavy rubbish day to the tip, the 8 x 6 trailer full of the hedge trimmings to be used as the binding matrix for the loads of dirt to rebuild our island for our solar and water pumps after the Murray River floods washed it away and it was our all terrain vehicle when we had to scramble over the 4 x 4 track to get over the ridge behind our house and through the farms it linked us with so we could get to the aptly name "Flood Road" so we could get to the workshop for the mths the road was cut ...... Even with the back loaded with boxes of Prismatic batteries or solar panels to the point the rear is near on the bump stops and scrapes at every opportunity, it still goes strong and passes anything that gets in the wife's way .... it really brings out the Dr Jekyll in her driving style :lol: T1 Terry
New here to the group ! Have an 05 Prius my family has owned since new currently odometer doesn’t show but back in 2016 the last time it read it was at 273k ! Pretty sure I’m at or near half a million by now ! By far the best daily driver I’ve ever owned! Car has been through it all and never given up! All Original Engine:Transmission:Battery! It now holds a “Rebuilt title “ as of last month due to a hail storm ! I’m looking into restoring it or atleast trying ! What are some upgrades I can do to make the vehicle ride better ? Just had a full system check all fluids topped off, suspension /brakes replaced and the whole A/C System gone through! Currently waiting on a new odometer to replace the broken one!
Aren't there problems with the early generation 2 Prius where they wouldn't go above some kind of silly mileage 300,000 something like that? I remember reading that somewhere I wouldn't replace that odometer are you kidding me just keep track of it with your app or whatever I think the computer might be able to see the mileage I don't know if you can read that and TIS or not but you're going to take the whole dash apart to replace the odometer wow well I guess cool I don't even like to take the dash apart to replace a failing speedometer and gas gauge I have but I generally don't care to especially like in my car where it keeps coming back on and if I start it correctly it always is on I have noticed that driving my generation too for the last 3 or 4 years and making two or three attempts to change the display that is the speedometer gear change indicator heads up thing not the MFD
Well there you go so if I have an '05 and it gets to the 299 Jesus Lord it 300,000 miles I don't think I'm going to bother fixing the odometer personally I guess that would be just me. Just seems like there's no point everything is well out of the way warranty all of it It's no reason to even keep track anymore other than for adding to the list on the internet or something and there are aftermarket things you can use to do that with I guess if that's important but it 300,000 nothing's important anymore.
Well, the taxi Prius now has 766,000 km plus on the clock, but has developed some very nasty issues including the RED triangle of death but still drives. It dragged the Silver Prius on a dolly trailer from the workshop yard to the house including up a few hills and our rather steep driveway with no real issues. A few days ago I dragged a 6 x 4 trailer loaded to the top with gravel from the workshop yard, same deal, it towed it fine, stopping was rather interesting, but to be expected with that much weight behind it and a trailer without brakes ... lucky there are back roads and not a lot of highway patrol Police around this area :lol: I managed to kill the screen in my phone (sat on it) so I'm waiting for the new phone to run a Dr Prius diag on it to see what the red triangle is about and there strange habit of simply loosing drive is very light throttle is used for too long, motor revs but virtually no drive, stop and turn it off, back on and away we go again .... the other strange one is the symptoms of running out of fuel, that surge thing, but plant the foot and it gets over it ..... Might be a not too serious one I can fix or it might be time to retire it, the wife loves it and doesn't really want to put it out to pasture .... T1 Terry
I don't know what year your car is but that kind of towing with the Prius is certainly not something to be doing I have a 5x8 trailer I never put more than $1,100 $1,200 lb in it never and make sure that the weight is shifted correctly over the axle to keep the tongue weight good antics like pulling a fully loaded trailer of gravel around with the Prius is not an option here that's dangerous actually and then towing other vehicles up your semi steep driveway etc so on and so forth I understand it and all that but it's very stressful to the car for sure so whatever happens doing that well I guess it's to be expected given what you've done the age of the car the mileage etc It's all fixable matter of fact your Prius there if it's a generation 2 has the good gas tank without all the problems etc You should be able to keep that car on the road for 600,000 mi whatever that is in kilometers or buttload of them. Pretty much without any issue but the towing antics would need to be minimized just because the vehicle will do it doesn't mean you should be doing it but 300k on a generation two Prius is about half of it's used life maybe a tad more if it's been any kind of taken care of it should go the distance.
I started the 299999 club because the 2005 odometer stoped before the car did. I left the club when I had Texas hybrid replace the meter with a 06 that could count above 299999 I’m above 630,000 now and will start a 999,999 club when I get there soon. iPhone ?
I was just wondering what kind of miles you were making when you were making them 100 a day hundred plus? I guess there's a lot of sprawl out west so doing a hundred a day is probably really easy?.

checking in 2006, 333k miles. Annual oil change. Very little low cost of ownership minus my cat getting stolen and can't pass smog.
Yeah LA you're just kind of screwed My brother lives up in thousand oaks. From the East Coast we are and he says everything out there is a disaster It took 4 years 3 and 1/2 years just to remodel his home who he bought from family on his wife's side so on and so forth everything that went on at this property which is in thousand oaks which is upper crust niceness It took 3 years 3 and 1/2 years just to get basic stuff done pool work concrete work etc It was a disaster He says it's the same for vehicles just forget it by another car just pointless buy a $3,000 converter whatever it is now or the one that they'll allow just pay the government off or change the vehicle if you're only alternative luckily in my state we have lots of counties that have given up on emissions they realize it's just a robbing the citizenry debacle.
Just checking in, 2003 Gen 1 323k miles. Oil changes every 5k miles. I have changed the transaxle fluid. I recently replaced the rear brake shoes because one came detached and jammed in the drum.
I've owned it since it had 299,998 miles last year. I had to replace the battery when I bought it. A friend of mine parked the car when it had some issues and it sat for 4 years. I purchased a refurb battery from besthybridbatteries. I found the issue with the car was a faulty IGBT in the inverter assembly. The car had the dreaded p3125-287 error code. I checked the windings on the stator with a megaohmeter and they checked good, so I purchased a used inverter off eBay to replace the faulty unit. I believe the original owner owned the car until it had 287k and it appeared to be well loved, all maintenance was documented in the "Toyota Passport" maintenance guide.
