I started the Prius Podcast, sharing status updates and stories on four Gen2s (all silver) in our family and now, I'm looking for guests from the 299k+ Club.

The goal of the podcast would be storytelling. Interviewing Prius owners on sharing their Prius journey and talking about our hybrids for the fun of it. It could be useful for people who are looking to buy a Prius with real-life information and further reinforce the Prius brand with cool stories from 299k+ mileage owners.

Just hit 300k odometer reads perfect
The battery was serviced when I got the car at 150k just converted the headlights over to LEDs and the parking lights as well never thought I'd love a Prius as much as I do road trips are amazing had to rent a van recently to take the family to Idaho and gained a whole new respect for my Prius and the gas mileage. The same trip costs me 40$ in my Prius each way we spent over 150$ in gas in the van...

 

2004 Prius. Second owner, bought it with 235,000 miles. I'm somewhere at 300,150 now. Original battery pack, haven't replaced transaxle fluid or pads. I'm still getting 45-50 mpg even though the computer reports sub 40. I calculate miles/gallons at gas fill ups. I get the cheapest dino oil at every change, $20 with filter. I did have to get the brake pedal/stop sensor replaced. Sometimes the tail lights wouldn't work, not allowing you to start the car. This also affected cruise control, sometimes you wouldn't be able to use it. All is good now with the new sensor.

Warning light is for the headlight leveling sensor, engine light is for the MAF (running lean).

Superb car, other than the stuck odometer.

 

About to give our 2009 away to my mom. It now has 314K miles.

Repairs:

1) Inverter cooling pump ($55).
2) Coolant diverter valve ($73).
3) Combo meter ($0 extended recall).

 

I’m 297,000 miles away from the club!

 

2002 424,300
Replaced original main battery at 424,100
Changed transaxle fluid once
Replaced pads twice
Replaced all wheel bearings twice
Change oil around 5k miles with cheapest Walmart oil
Have drove 365,000 miles myself
Replaced A/C clutch once.
Only engine work was change spark plugs 3 times.

Ok I just broke the 300,000 mile barrier so I thought I’d post. It’s an 06.


1) Did you replace the HV battery pack?
Yes! At 265,710 with a used 2017 Prius battery pack. This was in July 2018.
2) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid? Yes, 270,000 miles September 2018.
3) Did you replace the brake pads?
Nope. I’m the 2nd full length owner and I am not sure if the brakes have been changed.
4) Your lifetime MPG (if available)?
unknown never kept track. The guess o meter says 45-46 mpg.
5) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use?
Mobile one 5w30 synthetic. I do extended oil change at 15,000 miles per change. Last change was 295,xxx so next is 310,000 miles. I use black stone labs to monitor each oil change.
6) How about post a picture of 300,000 miles on ODO?
Sure!
7) Are you the original owner?
No one owner owned it up to 250,000 miles. Another owner had it for a few months. And he sold it to me. I needed a beater/daily driver. Love my Prius. I drive it 3-4x a week. And usually take it when I need to park in pack areas like downtown or areas where I don’t want to take my tesla to.
8) How many miles under your ownership? About 45-50,000 miles.

I changed the spark plugs, valve cover gaskets, inverted coolant pump. Catalytic converters code started popping up 3k miles ago and I just cleared it. I passed emissions after clearing the code. I hope to get 4 more years out of this car.

 

Congrats. You can weld on an aftermarket Cat for $100 plus installation so you can continue to 400,000 miles........

 

Ya I’m gonna go the cheap route with a CAT when it really truly needs it but right now clearing a code every few months doesn’t seems like an inconvenience.

 

2007 Prius, 489,022 km (303,864 mi.)

1) Did you replace the HV battery pack?
No, the original HV battery is still going strong. Although the HV battery has never shown signs of weakness, I started doing annual cell balancing one and a half years ago with a Prolong charger from Hybrid Automotive.

2) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid?
Yes, three times. First at 120k km, then at 252k km, and again at 425k. The second and third changes were with Ravenol T-WS Lifetime.

3) Did you replace the brake pads?
Yes, but only because of the consequences of corrosion from road salt. Front pads and rotors at 165k and 350k km. Rear pads and rotors at 251k km.

4) Your lifetime MPG (if available)?
4.55 l/100km (51.7 US mpg) (62.1 UK mpg)

5) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use?
Oil was changed about every 25k km. (validated by used oil analysis). For the first 350k km I used European formula Mobil 1 0W-30 Fuel Economy with ACEA A5/B5 (=extended service) rating.
At 350k km I started using Mobil 1 0W-30 ESP low ash formula with ACEA C2, C3 rating.
Presently the engine is consuming around 1 liter of oil per 5k km.

6) How about posting a picture of 300,000 miles on ODO?

I also:

Changed the key fob batteries after five years and ten years.

Replaced the left Windshield wiper arm after five years, and the right one after eleven years because the paint was blistering due to aluminum corrosion from road salt.

Had the touch screen repaired at six years because it wasn’t responding to touch.

Replaced the 12V battery proactively after seven years with an Optima Yellow Top. It was still working well, but I replaced it to ensure reliability.

Replaced 3 cracked fog lights. Once because of ballistic rock impact, twice because of corrosion from road salt.

Had both front wheel bearings replaced at 264k km, and the right front again at 466k km.

Had the rear muffler replaced at 325k km, and the rest of the exhaust system at 429k km due to corrosion from road salt.

Replaced the water pump belt and idler pulley at 329k km. They weren’t bad; just preventative maintenance. (still original water pump)

Had the spark plugs replaced at 127k km with Denso Iridium SK16R11, and I replaced them again at 329k km with Denso Iridium Twin Tip IK16TT 4701.
