I don't know what he does, but I am a process server and drive an average of 250 miles a day. Currently at miles 312,000 miles and holding my breath Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Just FYI, mine is ‘09 and has 345xxx. Still not sure if I need a brake actuator fix or just a proper brake fluid flush. Will update on that other than that new battery put last year and water pump was changed. Just put the new rear brakes. Everything else seem running fine.
2009 Prius just rolled 600,000 miles and counting! Still original HV battery and drivetrain! Unfreakingbelieveable! Feel free to join our Facebook group. Toyota Prius owners club Updated post from my old post.
I have 417,000+ miles on my 2006 Prius, which I bought new. It is still using the original HV battery pack. Oil changes have been 5-7000 miles using whatever brand oil was available. The brake pads were changed once, at about 300,000 miles. The only problems I've had: the check engine light came on at about 110,000 miles, would be reset, and then come back on under acceleration (catalytic convertor sensor) - it's been on ever since with no problem; the A/C failed last summer and the leak is in the dash so it's not worth the cost to fix. I got 50 mpg until about 225,000 miles and then it gradually declined to 42 now. It's the best car I've ever owned. Problem is, I'd like to get a new car but now it's kind of a game. Will it reach 500,000 miles, or will I just find it on its roof in the driveway, with tires twitching, refusing to go anymore?
Folks, as I approach the 400,000 mile mark with your Prius, I still amazed that Toyota has not reached out to me. While I know that there are Volvos out there with a million miles, as the 1st mass produced hybrird vehicle, I'd think the Toyota engineers would like to collect data on high mileage cars like my Prius. While I'm probably jinx'ing myself, I'm still on my original water pump! I'm not quite sure if any of the other big car makers could make that claim. I'm currently at 397500 miles, once I hit my next milestone, I'll post a pic of my odometer and my Prius.
Awesome achievement, but I think there are so many out there that Toyota has already had access to. And to be fair, not sure Toyota cares about it's vehicles going that long. Think about it from their point of view. They would rather sell you a new vehicle. Also, they may be diverting some of their resources.
i have a 2006 and 2007 prius. I am a rural mail carrier in north central wi. the 2006 has 295000 and the 2007 has 384000 other than I keep losing the lights on the instrument cluster, they both still run good everyday! my route is 110 miles and I run it 6 days a week. when one of these prius's finally give out, I will definitely get another one!
I’m at 405,000 on my 2008 Prius and am starting to look for a replacement. There aren’t any major issues with it, but I think it’s time. I average > 4,000 miles per month and just can’t see me driving it much longer. I’ve driven a couple of used Camry Hybrids and really like them, so I think that’s the direction I’m going to go in. I’m just trying to figure out what to with this one. Obviously not much value on a 10-11 year old car with that many miles.
How are they holding up to rust belt weather? Sadly my 2005 just started showing signs of blistering this past fall. 13 years and 280k when I discovered it. iPhone X ?
Well, I made it too the magical milestone of 299,999 this morning. The Original Pack has held up well. At this point the car owes me nothing. So should the day come that it does need a pack, I’ll have no problem justifying the expense. For now I’ll just track mileage with the trip meter. I do plan on replacing the display with one from Texas Hybrids in the spring. iPhone X ?
My 2008 is at 308,000+. I bought it almost two years ago at 270,000. As far as I know the hybrid battery pack has never been changed and works fine. I did just change the catalytic converter as it had been bad since I bought the car. It uses a quart of oil every 1,000 miles or so and I change the oil by the light. I use WIX filters and whatever 5w30 synthetic is on sale. The car has been ultra reliable.
I’m at about 4000-4500 per qt of oil. Just using conventional 5w-30. I’ll be taking it in tomorrow for the. Next change. I do need to change the PCV. I’ve never changed it. Or I may just remove and clean it with solvent. iPhone X ?
My 2005 Prius hit 300K this past Sunday, first time for me with any car I have ever owned. I am the original owner. 1) I replaced the HV battery pack in June 2018 at 288K, more so as a preventative measure than required. I bought a "young" OEM pack from TMR-JWAP and it is working like a champ. 2) I have replaced the hybrid transaxle fluid three times. 3) I have replaced the brake pads a few times. 4) I have no idea what my lifetime mileage is, but it has easily been in the low 50s/high 40s and dips a bit in the winter. 5) Oil change interval is about 5K, I use 5W20 synthetic (started synthetic at 100K miles) brand varies, been on a Penzoil kick lately. 6) I need to change the display, stuck on 299,999...I'll give Texas Hybrid a shout. This car has been well worth the investment and I plan to keep it for another 3 -4 years...possibly up to 400K miles! Thanks to all on this website, this place is invaluable for all things Prius! Cheers, Tom
I am an engineer, work is 20 miles each way and I am busy all over the place during the week. I have been up to Canada, and go down to MD and CT with some frequency. I drove down to NC to get the new battery back in June. I just love to drive this car!
My Ex taxi Prius has over 720,000km on the clock (about 450,000 miles) and still going strong on the original ICE and electric motors and basically the whole computer system really. I did replace a timing chain but that turned out not to be the problem that was making the noise (hard to diagnose a noise that can't be duplicated standing still). The problem turned out to be a partially blocked catalytic converter causing the exhaust pipe to be forced away from the manifold to let the pressure out and then bang back metal to metal making the noise I mistook to be a rattling timing chain. It has had a second hand traction battery fitted, when I had the timing cover off I replaced the water pump but it wasn't giving any trouble before then, it needs a new L/H CV joint, (the boot failed and sand got in and chewed it out so it clunks on tight turns now) and of course, numerous 12v batteries until in desperation I build up a lithium battery out of tired 40Ah cells, that has solved the 12v battery problem. Every so often the dash looses all its display, but the headlight flick on/off a few times while holding the display button to show the fault codes clears that ok. So really just servicing and tyres, it doesn't use oil between services either. I have quite a few vehicles with even higher mileage than this Prius and they are still going ok, although the VW Kombi has had a few engines and a gearbox replaced but it has twice as many miles on the clock and the poor little air cooled low tech 4 cyl does get worked hard along with the gearbox getting it over the hills  T1 Terry
