Wooha we should be getting a 400000 update any time now. BTW. 2fast4u, let us now how you're finding the amsoil and how longer interval you plan to run it for.
UPDATE 399000 With amsoil 4 quarts I made it to i believe around 4600 I then bought a new filter and a quart im at about 6200.
If you estimate that a quart is 28% of a fill, then cycles of adding one quart leave you with this amount of original oil: Code: miles --------- original oil fraction 0 ------------- 1 4500 --------- .72 9000 --------- .52 13500 -------- .37 18000 -------- .27 22500 -------- .19 27000 -------- .14
UPDATE: TOMORROW I am totally lost although I see where u might be going. I believe u missed my previous post. The only reason I continued with this experiment is because Amsoil supposedly guarantees there oil for 25000 miles, so regardless of the oil added or burned away and the little left it should still be good for 25000 miles. If im wrong somebody stop me before I blow up my engine. ALSO while im at it, I am in the process of experimentation. I bought Amsoil dominator 10w-30 racing oil it was 1 dollar more ( 1 quart ) red in color. I was in need of a quart and I wanted to see if I could possibly gain mpg or possibly slow oil consumption by the 10w, only have about 200 miles on it, feels good, im at about 51 mpg. We are in the process of irene coming so the winds have been very strong anyway I'll keep u posted.
Totally agree. 2 fast 4 u: Congratulations! I don't know why but I'm smiling ear to ear. Take good care of yourself (and your Prius) so we can continue getting updates. I'm saving that picture on my computer to show doubters how reliable a well maintained Prius can be.
Here is the video showing the 400,000 milestone and the highway signs that "marked" the location. It appears to be on I95 1/4 mile away from Daytona Beach. You can also see what appears to be the left-over clouds from the hurricane Irene.
