On my Camry, which is a Gen 5 hybrid, I did not get really decent mileage until about 1300 miles on the car, likely due to engine break in & ECU learning. Of course, much lower than my 2017 Prius Two.

No matter how badly you have it, there is always someone who has it worse. Look at this poor fellow:

    Prius (Toyota Prius) | Fuelly

On his 20th fill, he had travelled 153 miles and averaged 27.5mpg. He doesn't have any notes visible. Maybe he had a couch strapped to the roof and was at 110mph the whole time.

I did better than that at my worst with my 2025 Camry XLE with a heavier car and a little larger engine..

I got in that neighborhood a few times this winter. But that was mostly because of using remote start for 10min warmups plus leaving the car running during errands. We had long stretches this winter of well below zero(F) temps. I wonder if that owner was doing something that also caused them to regularly leave the car running while it was stationary. Or I could see something like a camping trip doing it if the car was used as a generator.
