We bought a Camry in December. After driving from Vermont to Florida, and back to Vermont another route, to dat, I have not seen a Gen 5 Prius. Not once. We have a fairly high volume dealer up the street, and I've never seen one around here either. Was this all fake news?

Similarly, they didn't do the mpg test that Jeremy Clarkson did, when he took the Gen II Prius onto an oval track for the entire tank - until it ran empty. If they truly wanted to show how poor a mileage you could get ... screw running all the seat heaters, you simply keep it floored. .
Of course! That was the point. The 400+ hp BMW M3 got 2 mpg better than the Prius doing that ridiculous stunt. But if you simply run AC and heater simultaneously and call that a test? ..... Really? .
Loading up the car and driving like a bat out of hell is the typical American driver I think. And I actually know a GAL who drives with the AC cranked and the seat warmers on in the summer.
I actually would like to see how much better the mileage is on the Gen 5 Prius when it's continuously floored doing 115mph. Gen II Prius was ~ 17mpg flooref iirc. The Gen 5? With its bigger/better ICE ? I bet gen 5 could easily do nearly 30 mpg - even in slushy rain!
I do not think I'm going to be able to conduct that test lol, but somebody in here with a nice, desolate 5-mile stretch could. Just reset the "AVG MPG" gauge at 115 and done.
Marine Ray posted the June Sales rollup that listed qty 2666 2023 Prius Primes sold in the US to date, and qty 12,275 2023 Prius. Using a 2021 estimate of 101 Million non-truck vehicles on the road, the odds of seeing a 2023 Prius or Prius Prime would seem to be around 1 out of every 15,000 "cars" (perhaps 1 in 30k vehicles) you see when you are out and about. I actually saw one in my area a month or so ago.
we generally get quite a few prius allocated to the metro boston dealers, but i'm still hoping to see one.
