Don't have my car yet. Hopefully within two weeks. Estimated delivery date is the 16th to the 22nd.

I'm debating going with the Lexus version because I like the black button instead of red. Or else I probably would have jumped on the one HoustonEvolution is getting rid of.

But most of my current efforts are going towards getting my 2010 perfect for trade. I just got the new spoiler today(so shiny lol) and discovered my third brake light burned out at some point in the last couple years. So back to the parts website I go. (BTW, whoever designed the gen3 rear spoiler can go die in a fire.)

Sat in one today. It’s sexier, but…

    1. Display not in focus with my distance glasses. Don’t want bifocals to drive.
    2. Feels much smaller than me 2013. Actually harder to enter and exit.
    3. Frankly, less visibility…not just the rear window.

I hope in subsequent years it will be better.

The ONLY reason you would want higher octane gasoline is to stop engine knock. If it doesn't knock with regular, then it DOES NOT need 91 octane.

When running on the required octane, a modern engine is on the verge of knocking of the entire time. The knock sensors detect knock before the driver can, and the ECU retards ignition timing until knock is no longer detected. Then it advances the timing until knock occurs. This is happening continuously. Retarded timing effectively shortens the expansion stroke, which results in less power generated and poorer fuel economy.

Required octane is the minimum needed to avoid uncontrollable knock. The Lexus engines I was referring to are midgrade recommended engines. They are designed to make use of that octane, but can safely run regular without risking damage. When doing so, the ignition timing is retarded to the point the engine can't produce its stated torque and power ratings.

I'd say that using regular fuel without ethanol would be better than a higher octane fuel for normal applications.

    Depends on the specifics.

Had a Sonic. While GM said it was regular fuel, the 1.4L turbo was actually a premium fuel engine. With 93 octane E10, I got better fuel economy than the 87 E10. Never had the chance to try E0, but the slightly higher energy content wouldn't match the effect of the higher octane.

As for the Prius, the footnote about 91 octane likely came to be because someone confused RON, which is used on pumps in Japan, with the AKI used in the US.

I'm going with no. The new Prius has black mirrors and the blurry photo has a body-coloured mirror. Also, the bumper is slightly different.

Sure about that? The mirrors are different.

My wife has mobility issues. You mentioned “harder to enter and exit”. Can you elaborate? Does the passenger seat sit really low? If anyone has seat height info I would appreciate the info. We have a Mazda CX3 and the passenger seat height/entry and exit just right.Thanks.

The car sits higher, but the roofline is lower. Seat height can be adjusted, then adjusted again to see the display properly.
I’d recommend power seats with memory

The CX3 is a small SUV/Crossover. It's going to be MUCH easier to enter than the G4 Prius. The G4 Prius is much easier to enter than the G5... You're gonna need a helmet.

    2023 Prius
    Height: 55.9-56.3 in.
    -subtract
    Headroom: 38.0 in.
=rough idea of where your bum rests above the ground. 18ish inches?
