2022 Prime or Wait for 2023 yikes!

Usually only luxury buildings will install them for free. However, if you offer to pay for the installation yourself and if it is feasible, the management is not legally allowed to refuse the project.

 

Is the Limited trim gone for good now, or just stopped production at the moment? When I asked dealers around here I got different vague answers but none told me that it was totally gone...just that they could not request it right now.

 

I saw one new one. Perhaps it will be produced in limited numbers (pun intended).

 

Just after I said this one, while I was driving with my 2021 blue/aqua Limited (blue carpool stickers), I was passed by a 2022 blue/aqua Limited (yellow carpool stickers). With its fog lights on, nice shade of blue at night, BSM lights lighting, custom license plate, and of course the great Prius Prime design, it was such a beautiful car! I was going to come close to take another look and perhaps take a picture, but an ugly silver mid-2000s Corolla got in between us.

 

The legal part varies by jurisdiction.

 

I've read a description of the Prius AWD. The Prius' All-Wheel Drive System: How Does It Work? - The Car Guide Does it work effectively as an AWD system since it seems to work primarily on acceleration from a stop? What about at speed?

The system was designed for a market that doesn't use road salt. The rear motor is about 7hp. It is used from a stop and crawling speeds, to help get the car going. It can give some traction assist up to 43mph. Beyond that, it doesn't do anything. The motor is induction, so the penalty for having it at higher speeds is minimized. If it is used in stop and go, and low speeds most of the time, the induction motor is less efficient than a permanent magnet one.

 

AWD does nearly nothing at higher speeds. Toyota's system is great....stop spewing BS...

 

What BS? I only relayed the reported info Toyota themselves have given out on their system.

I made no claims about it not working for its designed purpose; that is helping out at low speeds in slippery conditions. However, AWD systems can be designed for performance(Audi's system has been banned from some race circuits as an unfair advantage) at high speeds. I've never heard of anyone buying a Prius for a sports car, but people coming from another AWD car may run into trouble if they expect the Prius system to work like their previous one. Telling people the Prius AWD isn't a full speed system is not BS.

 

If you go around a slick turn under power and the one driving wheel starts to spin, that could put you in an uncontrollable situation.

Trollbait, why the road salt issue?

 

Salt is one of those resources Japan has to import, making it too costly for de-icing roads. To address that, this AWD system was available on the gen4 Prius in Japan since the redesign's release. Maybe Toyota always intended to export the feature. I think it is more of a case like the EV button, though, where they did so in response to public demand.

 

Seems like real radio silence lately about what to expect for 2023, I guess just have to wait? Nobody knows any current rumors?

 

I thought all the news so far are 2023 Prius and Prime will be redesign.

That news was coming from rumor sites with third party renders of what the car might look like. Some had a good track record with predictions. It is just that it getting close to the end of the year. If an all new Prius is coming out for the 2023MY, the announcement is going to be really last minute.
