    I checked EV6 trim specs on Kia USA site. 2022 Kia EV6 | All-Electric Crossover - Compare Specs by Trim | Kia

    Then I found out that there is a huge price jump from the base trim Light (RWD) $40,900 to next level Wind (RWD) $47,000. The biggest spec difference in Light is the smaller battery and motor. 58.0 kWh Battery with 167 HP vs 77.4 kWh Battery with 225 HP. For me, 232 miles range is enough. Paying $6,100 more to get 78miles more of range seems to be outrageously expensive. Yeah, I get a few additional bells and whistles like Onboard Power Generator and a better sound system. but I really don't care for those features. The problem is, I can't find any EV6 Light trim available anywhere.

    I don’t believe the Light is shipping yet, just Wind and GT-Line.

    Have you looked at its sister car? The Ioniq 5 SE? Those are definitely here as Out of Spec did a comparison between the three trim levels. Granted, I’m not sure if the SE trim they showed had the short range or long range battery.

    I've never been impressed with KIA's but, for fun, checked our Denver KIA dealership for EV's in stock. They only have three, EV6 GT-Line RWD for $55k and two Niro's EV FWD, $42K and $46K.
    I laughed at the front of the KIA webpage, bragging about the JD Powers Awards which are a huge joke. "Initial quality"?? I care about "lifetime quality"

    Oh, I see. That explains why I am only seeing Wind trim in inventory at the Kia site. But, I just contacted a local Kia dealer and asked about EV6 Light trim. They don't have anything scheduled, but the rep told me I can order one with +$5000 market adjustment price. I said, "No Thanks."

    Yes, I have. The Ioniq 5 comes in three trims and no short-range battery like the EV6 Light. Accordingly, the least expensive SE (RWD) is priced at MSRP $43,650. The problem is the same as Kia, I can't find a base SE trim in inventory. And I am sure even if I find one, it will be marked up $5000 like Kia, making it out of my reach. I am looking for a low $40K sales price BEV... but that seems to be very difficult. Leaf, Kona EV, Niro EV seems to be the only options.

    The only Highlander hybrids I saw on dealer lots when it first came out were Limiteds. This is usually the norm. It gets the most profit from early demand, and it gives factory workers practice with models with the most features.

    I test drove a base SE 2WD Ioniq5 the other day here in the Denver area. Nice car. I drove across the street and test drove a EV6 base 58kWh RWD also. Oddly, the EV6 felt larger when driving it, while the Ioniq5 is objectively larger. I went in expecting to like the EV6 better and ended up liking the Ioniq 5 better.
