There are apps that record driving/walking data. So, it would automatically remember where you parked. But if someone else drives away with the vehicle, that approach is worthless. To truly track, you need cell-service built into the vehicle. That's why there's an annual fee.

 

What @john1701a said. My app (Find My Car) just knows where I stopped driving. It's not a tracker.

 

OK, Thanks, I see now. The apps can tell you where you last left the car, like at a park or hiking trail or mall. It doesn't help if another family member is driving the car.

 

I got an email stating that there was a new Toyota app this week. When I logged in it said I had a 3 year trial and remote connect was one of the touted benefits:

Though the "1" disclaimer reads:

It's disappointing that Toyota can't figure out with all of a person's information that their vehicle is able to do things related to promotional emails.
