Yeah, I was talking to my Toyota dealer and they had no idea. Thought maybe someone on here would know.

Fine for those with iPhones. No Android Auto for the rest of the world?

True, but for those with iPhones, freed from the chains of Entune...

Must be hope for Android down the road. Doubt Toyota wants to give either infotainment platform a monopoly.

Now, I'd be interested in whether the Carplay can be retrofitted to the older Primes. The 2020 fixes most of the complaints I have about my 2017, except for the missing spare tire.

Quite frustrated, I would have bought a prime last September, but 5th seat was an absolute requirement for us, and we had to buy then as we were carless. Surprised Toyota even released with only 4 seats.

I was in a similar situation in 2016 when my Gen 2 gave up the ghost while I had been waiting for the upcoming Prime, but forced to make a decision I picked up a used PiP in the meantime (rather than a Gen 4 or some other non-Prius). Now almost 3 years later, I am considering upgrading.

What did you end up buying?

Gen 4. Considered a Clarity as it has 5 seats but at the time they were commanding full MSRP, not like now.

Considering swapping out the gen 4 for a Tesla model 3.

I ordered a 2019 Prime in early April and was waiting to hear about delivery. My dealer called today to say that a VIN was generated, it will be built in the next few days with delivery estimated as June 16, 2019. It will be a 2020 Prime.

What are the chances that Electric Storm Blue will replace Blue Magnetism?

Low. Blue Magnetism is a Prime-specific colour (no other model shares this, not even the Prius).

Also, the new blue available on the Prime will be Blueprint (same one on the 2019 RAV4 Hybrid). I don't know if it'll be available in the US but it is available in Japan for the updated model.

I’m curious about the date. Did ‘delivery’ mean to your dealership? You got a 2020 for a 2019 price?
I wonder if that’s what’s happening now when a 2019 is ordered. But I’d think they’d have to clear that with customers because some may not want bench seating in back.
What area are you in? Thx!

Very cool if true, though a bit surprising for them to switch up model years, particularly if there are feature changes? There is also a good chance the dealer may be misinformed.... @MrHockey did they give you the VIN? I know one character in the VIN represents the model year, that would confirm it.

Edit: if the 10th character of the VIN is a K, it is a 2019, if it is L then it is 2020.

But I thought we are now well past the final 2019 Prime order date, and even two months into the ordering season for 2020 Primes:

So I can get an order in now?
I’ve only ever bought off the lot because they had what I want. I’m assuming you put a deposit down and haggle on price at ordering time?
I’m waiting on cash rebate offers, so am I better off to wait?
