It is a fuzzy area. According to my Senator's office about 80-90% of Alaskan's are making it through. Border should be fully open the 21st. Yes, they say you need to not house anywhere or you could be subject to quarantine. I figure 48 hours to to make it through and I will just sleep in the back with the seats down. I will check I5 status, thanks!
The current closure order is until the 21st. But it is already an extension of the original order, and they could extend it yet again. If you are familiar with the area, then you probably already know the alternate routes. Puget Sound traffic flow and incidents: WSDOT - Seattle Washington Cameras Closures for protests or VIP visits are marked as just "incidents" with normal state patrol and WSDOT responses, with no other detail. But if all the traffic cameras in an area are offline, without a storm-related power outage, then you'll know that it isn't for vehicle crashes.

Looked on Google Maps last night and really didn't see much. Is there a specific area you are talking about? Thanks
For travel? No. But here’s the BC CDC webpage. COVID-19 AFAIK, there are no travel restrictions within BC other than “avoid non essential travel” between BC and Alberta or Yukon, and of course the US. I don’t know if you need (or want) to call the border crossing you intend to use ahead of time to let them know you plan to cross with a new vehicle from WA to AK via Canada. Doesn’t hurt to get more info I suppose.
True dat! I have the general number with no real person on the other side. I have emailed, no response. Yes, if you have a number I would be grateful!
Live agents are available from 6 am to 10 pm (eastern daylight time), 7 days a week Contact the CBSA for general information on programs, services and initiatives This is what I’ve found: 1-800-461-9999
This past week, protests have caused I-5 closures through the downtown core. All traffic is diverted off at I-90 and 520. Tonight is the first night I don't see the whole highway closed by this time, though major gatherings continue and this item suggests that (only!) one ramp is closed for this reason: From the airport, the simplest alternate route is simply to take I-405 around the east side of the lake. Less simple is to take 518-509-99 through downtown, paralleling I-5 but more west. Move back to I-5 anyplace after the Aurora Bridge, though surface streets may be slow. If you initially take I-5 only to find it suddenly closed before reaching downtown, take I-90 east across the lake to I-405. I-405 at Bellevue had many ramps closed on Sunday night only, but the highway through remained open. No disturbances have repeated there.
Talked with a couple that just went through in a RV and they said no problem at the border... they just want a person to be self-contained with all provisions and no lollygagging. Guess even more ridged in YT as they don't want you going into grocery stores even!
Yes. The Yukon is quite stringent because they don’t have the infrastructure for a large number of cases.
Looks like I wont have to worry about that... we decided to ship her up. Hope fully be here early next week.
Good option. Just announced that the border closure has been extended yet again, for another 30 days. Canada, US and Mexico extend border restrictions to July 21. I'm glad that we already got our return visit value out of our most recent Parks Canada pass.
Yup. But as with anything, there are always a few bad apples American travellers seen stopping in Banff National Park | CTV News
Yes sir. Still letting Alaskans through but I am glad I didn't have to drive it. Plus we just got it today and is in fine condition. Dang lots of gadgets on this puppy. Going to have the read the manual I guess.
Sad that there will ALWAYS people taking advantage of the system but goodness the BCO should have asked for proof they were Alaskans. I was told they would look at the vehicle registration's address.
(I was wondering if Melissa's Missteak had reopened after the renovation that kept us out, but it doesn't appear so on the website. Spouse had her heart set on that when we were skiing there in February.) I'd rather hear of these stories from CBSA, making examples of scofflaws, than from FB without any indication about whether or not any officials were called to take action. Dinner in Banff means more the just fibbing to border agents. It also means either Parks Canada selling a pass to a foreign tourist, or said tourists blowing off the requirement to obtain said pass.
Umm, you can enter without a Parks Canada Pass - just buy at the gate. I’ve never bought a pass online, only purchased at the gate if I happen to drive on the Icefields Parkway. You don’t need a pass if you’re passing through.
Passing through, no pass needed. But staying overnight, even in the town of Banff, or doing any tourist activities requires a national parks pass. At least that is what we have been told and read. Though the PC staff did tell us how to stretch each day pass for two full days. And we are never there without doing something touristy.
