    Same with our bug. It had a support strut on one side the front hood, if you just tried to push the hood back down after raising, it was locked, and the hood bent at the strut connection, happened at least once with gas station attendants. I believe this was the days of all full-serve, I was pretty young but remember Dad getting ticked about that.

    my god lol, cars u r talking about is literally three times my age haha.

    And for the TSS and all that on the new corolla, i dont know if it will come standard with that here, cause here we have no real regulations as to how much safety equipement a car has to have, we follow EU`s rules on some things (even tho we r not a apart of EU...) and other things the A-holes in the road authority controls themselves. In USA u got the rule that says all cars produced 2019 and newer must have reversecamera for example, here its not like that, not even the 40 000 dollar BMW`s come standard with it, they dont even come standard with keyless access... Not even on 70 000 dollar Mercedes E-classes u get that as standard, here they milk u for everything uve got, which is extremly annoying. But the norwegian "road authority" that controls what cars r supposed so be legal and shit, yea, they dont care about that... Neither does the guvernment, cause they think they will get Norway car-free within the next 10 years. They dont care about vehicle safety anymore, right now theyre most focused on putting up tollbooths for cars in every damn city... Here in my City which is really small, we already have 5 tollbooths that costs 6 dollars to pass each time... Its insane... We have over 100 billion dollars in the oil fund, but apparently thats not enough to build roads and shit... But Norwegians r just to naive and let it slide, and if u start demonstarting and go against them, u get arrested, ur license gets taken away, u can get more jailtime then a rapist and so on... People who think Norway is a great country r so wrong, we may have free healthcare, but its a shithole for people who wants to have cars and i highly recommmend not moving here. But yea... Maybe the new Toyotas will start having stuff like this as standard, we dont know yet. On the auris that came in 2016 it had reverse camera for the base version, and the base version here costs 37 000 dollars... Cause we have insanly high import tax on cars... 40% of that total is just tax`s, and the guvernement still adds fee`s and even more taxes upon that again... We do have higher salery than americans tho, so i dont know how it adds up, but its still more expensive to live here then in USA. So yea... Hopefully the new Corolla will have the same standard stuff as the american one. Japanese car manifacturers seems the be the only ones that has all airbags as standard, reverse camera ETC. But i think that BMW had a drop in sales cause they didnt include alot of these safety stuff, so now theyve started to add things again, we r at a turning point in the car industry where people expect more equipment and such in the cars, so hopefully we will get more now.

    TSS is standard across the range in EU, as far as I know the only exceptions are Aygo and Hilux. ACC is not a standard TSS feature it's availible on some models.

    well.. its not been standard here in Norway... Prius active didnt have it before 2017 as standard, RAV4 life (lowest trim) got it in 2017. Seems like Norway does not follow EU trim`s apparently then, some of the models here got it as base in late late 2017, hilux and aygo doesnt have it here as even an option as u said, yaris and auris does not have it yet as base either, u ahve to get the "life S" of the yaris to get it, and a "active S" of the auris to get it. Weird why the trim`s r different...

    I had a car salesman that used to live a couple of houses down from me. He brought home one of those little 2 cylinder Hondas when they first came out. After he showed under the hood for a few of us, he asked me to close it and I didn't realize it had a little prop rod and I bent the hood in half. Man, he must've jumped up and down for a good 10 minutes, it was his demo.

    Is there a distinction between E-Four and AWD-i? In my mind, there's only one hybrid AWD system and it's fundamentally the same, just different powered electric motors for different applications.

    How does it compare to the RAV4 Hybrid or the Highlander Hybrid? Yes those are heavier vehicles but I suspect their AWD-i system is a bit more robust.

    At least it'll be easier to identify Prius trim levels on the used car market (esp. if they actually add the emblems to the rear)

    Isn't that a long standing European tradition? (well actually safety was standard but everything else was optional... like metallic paint, cruise control and alloy wheels).

    They charge the same exorbitant amount for convenience items too like Keyless Go! or radar adaptive cruise control.

    In North America, the minimum required number of airbags is 6 - dual front airbags, dual front side airbags and some sort of side head protection (obviously the most common is side curtain airbags but BMW still uses their HIPS airbags - the tubes). Every other airbag that is standard or optional on cars here is above the minimum required and that includes knee airbags, rear side airbags and rear seatbelt airbags (among other types of airbags)

    Same. It wasn't standard on the Gen 4 Prius when it was launched in 2015 (as a 2016 model year). It became standard in late 2016 (as a 2017 model year).

    Note that TSS-C doesn't include DRCC. TSS-C+ (new for this year) includes pedestrian detection (I'm assuming daytime only) to the package.

    So, instead of the confusion of the Two vs Two Eco we will have the confusion of LE vs L-Eco.
    Not much of an improvement IMO.

    THE NEW LEXUS UX (Global Dynamic Press Launch)
    Sounds like this is the same system that will go into the 2019 rav 4 hybrid, and both will not be out for reviews until early 2019. The rav4 is using the 2.5L engine from the camry hybrid, while the UX hybrid e-four is using a 2L engine. There is no telling if the UX has better awd because of lighter weight, or the rav4 hybird because of higher potential electrical power to the rear engine and possibly more grippy tires.


    The 2018 rav4 hybrid had a mg3 of 50KW, but not enough electrical power to drive it well in some awd situations. The 2019 e-four promises 30% more power, but I am unsure if that means 65 kw motor, or more electrical power to drive it when it needs it, or both.

    Hmm, I understand that the new RAV4 Hybrid can send up to 80% of the total power to the rear (vs. only 30% right now).

    Yaris basic "Sense" grade has TSS standard in Norway.

    I also have a funny story about Yaris and TSS. The importer for ex. Yugoslavia countries (Toyota Adria) didn't order cars with TSS standard, some of the folks on our local forum were observing Euro NCAP tests and on that test Yaris was tested only with TSS and it was stated that that is a standard feature on all Yaris models sold in Europe. Well, one of the participants on that forum was an editor of car magazine and he rang some phones. One week later all Yaris trims had TSS as standard :ROFLMAO:

    I took the front seat out of mine and in its place installed a bassinet with my first born in it and my wife and I drove from VA to GA for a month long assignment. I switched motels to get a dollar a day cheaper rate and a washing machine nearer our room to do cloth diapers in. Owned a Type 3, Type 4 and Porsche 914 which was really a VW and then a Jette VR6 pocket rocket. None particularly good cars in hindsight.

    I don't think it was a TOYOTA, but I read about an AWD system which was quite tricky, but which I suspect would be the same general concepts as E-Four/AWD-i would use. Almost everything was software driven, tied into ABS, EBD, ESP, Traction Control, Hill Descent, Damper control etc - and the various MODES of the car used them to different extents to cope with soft sand, ice, wet roads or rally driving. My suspicion was that particular car, if the computer stopped, the wheels wouldn't move.

    True - but unlike the old LandRover which depended on various pieces of steel meshed or linked together to join the ICE to the wheels - selected by a series of driver-operated levers and pedal.

    Well it isn’t on the website I have for my city (Fredrikstad), it apparently is on the “national” “Toyota.no” site, but not on the Fredrikstad department site... weird why they haven’t changed the information if the Yaris does have it? Maybe they haven’t updated it to the new information and trim levels, I see they don’t even have the “freestyle” trim which has been advertised on TV a billion times, on the Toyota fredrikstad site it listed as “life” and “life S” of the Yaris and auris is listed as “active” and “active S”. My moms 2016 is a active S, where the S stands for “safety” I believe, the normal active doesn’t have TSS from what I can see on their website, they must have not updated the trim levels on their website then? There is also a few of the new yaris’s in my neighborhood, and some of them don’t have the TSS cameras in the windshield. Did the first cars made in 2017 at all ship with it as base?

    IKR... keyless access (or “comfort access” as the call it) on the BMW’s costs like 700 dollars extra... and that even the freakin M5 and 7 series... they r so ribbed...

    And I can find the option for the rear airbags, it’s called “extra backseat safety” or some sh!t like that...

    And that’s the same as on my moms 2016 active S then, doesn’t work under 50kmh, doesn’t have the radar in the emblem, doesn’t have bicycle detection...

    The Prius Prime looks so much better than the Gen4. Looks like they're moving the (fantastic) headlights over.

    My personal wish is for a Prius GT: way lower roofline, mid-rear mounted engine. It would look kind of like a baby P1 with the Prime rear hatch glass.
