During those active duty years, one of my most memorable assignments was serving as the Director of Safety and Standardization for aviation in the Marine Corps Reserve. I enjoyed looking for attention grabbing "things" to get our crews to maybe think twice before they did something unfortunate. Look at that picture and think about it for a moment! Wrong on so many levels. As my caption suggests -- what could possibly go wrong?!? That was one of our "get you thinking" images...

Oooops -- didn't answer the question... Good heavens NO, that's not me (hint: it says U.S. Army on the side). Adds a new dimension to the Army term "chopper..."

OK, but you were used to a 4-seater (I googled).

I can’t do sunroofs either but my personal frustration was not being able to get fog lights and a heads up display together. Or to put it another way, it was impossible to get a fully loaded Prius when I bought mine (and probably still is).

Yeah, but it's a pretty high performance 4-seater... Ask strike guy if he (or she) wants to go attack a defended target without EW (electronic warfare) assets along to suppress defense. In the past, that was us, now it's mostly the EA-18G which replaced the EA-6 in the Navy a few years back. We (the USMC) are retiring the Prowler later this year. Nothing like having your old winged friend retired to make you feel old...

Back to Priuses! This is a perfect illustration of the "dilemma" I was talking about. Whether it's sunroofs on EX Hondas, or the perplexing, seemingly totally arbitrary inability to get fog lights and a HUD together in the same car. What -- are the wheels going to fall off if they put fog lights on a car with HUD? Some "packaging" may be appropriate to keep things reasonable, but you'd think they might build variants of the packages, so more of us could actually get what we want. How about something like "Package 5-A and 5-B" where "5" is the main grouping, and A and B represent inclusion or exclusion of something people might often split about. Fog lights with a HUD and fog lights without. An Accord EX with or without sunroof...

I think this irritating approach took hold hard back in the 80s when Accords were so popular, the dealers boldly added their own sticker and openly titled the the first line "Additional Dealer Profit." AND you could wait months even to get an Accord. When your car/number came up, you didn't quibble about whether it had a grey or black interior -- you were lucky to get one at all. What we see today is, at least in part, the residual effect of how things were back then.

Here are some pics of a Limited, XLE and LE. I wish they did something with that black vertical blank plastic trim in the bumper, maybe painted it a different color or added the option to make it more stylish with an accessory cover. I think all the AWD versions get a nicer looking LED accent with silver painted surrounding.

Unless they've made a quantum leap improvement: the fog lights are pretty useless. No actually: completely useless.

Why the hell do they eliminate spare tire from their "top" two levels? (Rhetorical question...)

What's the precise wisdom on here, 15 inch or 17 inch tyres?

depends on what you're looking for:

    mpg's, ride, handling, cost

I'm not enamoured of the looks of those new 17" rims. I have the 3rd gen 17", they're heavy, but decent looking, my 2 cents. They impact mpg, I believe means some extra charge going into London?? Also more expensive to replace.

For me the deal breaker is spare tire.

mpgs ride & cost point to the 15" Some people think the 17" handle better, some think the 15" are better.

Some like the appearance of the 17" with the narrow sidewalls.

I thought in general smaller wheels handle better in wet and larger in dry?
