My 2017 Liftback is EPA rated 52 combined but my average for 12K miles, mainly highway, is around 56.

Ok. I drove from NYC to Florida with baldish tires and got a record 51 mpg. On previous trips it was 46 or 47 either way. Coming back from Florida to NYC after I put 17 inch rims and 205 45 tires on it I got 44 mpg. Since then most local trips get me 46 to 52 mpg range. What r u guys using to meter ur mpgs???

I use the ODO reading + a calculator + the receipt for my gasoline purchase + math = MPG

Then, when I'm not too lazy to do so. I login to fuelly.com and upload that data. Why, iono - they are incredibly nosy and want a stupid amount of personal information on you and your car. So I made all that junk up. But if you don't want to do the math yourself, you can login there and upload that info. They'll do it for you and give you a "signature" which you can use here at this site, but which PriusChat for some reason shows one signature for me in a post, yet in the options in my ID, it shows another.

Sidenote: I just had my "best tank" and get this - it was on a tank of 15% Ethanol... Which makes no sense whatsoever because I drove the exact same route, under the exact same conditions, every single day. (It's getting to where that mix of gas/ethanol around here is just about everywhere though, so we'll see if this keeps up)

Going from NY to FL is downhill; the return trip is up hill.......in general.
AND if your new tires are not "low rolling resistance", that might account for most of the difference.
Pressure can be more important for some tires than others too.

ALL of Florida is near sea level.
Much of NY state is not......nor are the states in between.
It was partly a joke......but not entirely.

    Well there is Mt. Trashmore...

    Mount Trashmore (Florida) - Wikipedia

Quite a site I must say. We make sure to visit it every time we go to FL.
