Exactly. Hoping for a minor, but important design change that would vastly improve visibility on hatchback slope.
After looking at the UK prime brochure posted by Ferrarilover in another thread I see a bit of technology that is not currently on the USA version. Pretty cool adaptive headlight set up, sign reading capability etc..... I'm wondering if any of this technology will come to the US on the 2018 unit.
I changed all of my interior lights (bright white, I am old) to LEDs. Kit came with all the lights and a trim removal kit. (My son did the same with his Camry, but went for blue)
There are standardized road signs in the UK. They are not really standardized in the US.There are people in the Gen 4 forums saying the sign reading does not work well anyway.
Theoretically, it could absorb infrared and/or UV light and pass the visible spectrum or at least absorb less of the visible spectrum.
To this? https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/liveassets.toyotaretail.co.uk/flipbook/IE_PDF/prius-plug-in.pdf Road sign assist would have been better than being shown outdated speed limit signs and paying $170 for a new card. But that brochure says on page 2that the battery can get 39 miles on a single charge. (Odd that it's 39 miles, not 39 km, and not stated in the specifications toward the end. Also Cd = 0.25 instead of Cd = 0.24 in the USA.)
Yes, that's the brochure I was referring to. I believe they do use miles in the UK unlike the rest of Europe. Would be nice to get 39 miles on a charge, yes? I was actually referring mostly to the options listed on the back pages that are not available in the US I think. Like Power fold in mirrors, very interesting adaptive headlights & hill start assist.
Some people in the Gen 3 forum have added JDM folding mirrors to their Prius, I believe. I believe all Prius have hill start assist. Just press the brake hard when on an uphill incline. You can remove your foot from the brake and it stays engaged until the accelerator is pressed. Try it with nobody behind you until you understand how it works.
Prime's Cd is 0.25. The Gen 4 is 0.24. 39 miles.. that's the Japanese number of 62km. I think the NEDC number is 50km (31 miles). The brochure might've been made before the NEDC numbers came out.
I thought for the longest time that also the Prime had 0.24, and I swore that I saw that in several places online. Well, wait then, why would Toyota make a rear window curved glass if it wasn't going to improve the Cd?
Yeah there was some misinformation floating around (even I thought at one point that it was the same as Gen 4). It did improve Cd. It was to partially offset the front end design. (so I guess it could've been worse?)
Road Sign Assist monitors the road signs ahead, displaying useful information such as the current speed limit or overtaking restrictions in clear view on the new colour TFT display. The system also provides a visual and audible warning if you are not following the road sign indication. really? an AUDIBLE warning? How annoying would that get... uh oh... i'm doing 1 mile over the speed limit. that would have to be really selectable (e.g. speeding in a school zone is ok) but I can see that getting annoying really fast!
Which countries get the 11" vertical (premium/advanced) display? Looking at that brochure it doesn't look like the Uk get's it.
Subaru had this and claimed they invented it (for manual trannys). In Subaru's case it held the brake pressure (from you having applied the brakes in the 1st place) until you released the clutch. EZer that using the emergency brake for that purpose. Subaru did NOT invent it however, as my mom's '41 Studebaker had that nifty feature.
