56 MPG lifetime displayed. Cooler Fall weather already has mileage taking a nosedive. The car likes the heat and does not care so much about AC. The best mileage is achieved with the AC off but the AC penalty is low enough that it is not worth it to leave the AC off.

Cooler weather is having a negative impact on mileage...

I don't expect the lifetime displayed mileage to go up much higher.

Still impressive. What were the average daytime/nighttime temps?

I don't really know. The temps have been all over the place. We had a freeze warning one night while temps in the 70ies were not uncommon during the day. Maybe 60 degree Fahrenheit temps on average during the day maybe 45ish at night? So maybe low fifties as an overall average?

So my lifetime displayed average of 56.5 is most likely about 5% high. The real lifetime mileage is closer to 54 MPG so yeah I'm beating EPA, barely. Thing is most of the time I'm trying very hard to do exactly that and I'm just barely doing it. Driving this way in my previous hybrid yielded some very impressive results with one tank going over 80 MPG calculated. My best tank in the Camry was just under 70 driving in a similar fashion.

So here is the odd thing, I'm simultaneously disappointed and impressed with the HyCam. I think my issue is with the overly optimistic EPA rating. If the car was rated for perhaps 47, like the HyCord I wouldn't be disappointed at all. I'm highly impressed that a car as big and nice as the HyCam can get the mileage it does. It is amazing, just not quite as amazing as the EPA numbers suggest.

It is still pretty amazing for a car of that size and power to be consistently over 50mpg (which, you recall, was the benchmark of the Gen 3 Prius just 9 years ago)

I agree that the mileage is amazing for a car that size with 208 horsepower. The mileage is not "consistently over 50MPG" without some hypermile style driving. I'm guessing that by just driving normally the average in the Hybrid Camry LE would be closer to 45MPG. This is still an impressive result but I expect that a Prius will do a fair bit better. A coworker drives like a madman in his Prius and still claims to get 50MPG.

agreed. i think toyota tuned the new hycam to the epa test this time, like some other manufacturers.

too much competition getting around 50 and hyping it in their advertising, making toyota look bad.

Lower energy winter blend is likely at the pumps now too.
Toyota pulled all the tricks they could with the LE to get a high EPA number. The XLE and XSE ratings are at the mid to high forties.

I'm sure the dealer will gladly swap the wheels when you go to replace your current Camry hybrid.

You could probably find third party alloys that are lighter then the LE steelies as another option.

Lifetime MPG displayed briefly peaked at 56.6 MPG but the display is already back down to 56.5 and headed further down with the cooler weather.

I drove very aggressively to work the other day (because running late) and made it in 22 minutes. The 208 horsepower was awesome and mileage wasn't that bad, maybe high forties. Google Map's predicted time is usually 26 or 27 minutes and I typically take 30 to 32 minutes (driving slow for good MPGs). My apologies to those who got passed like they were standing still...

The current tank is below the lifetime for the first time since it warmed up.

The reflection from the hood is back. I didn't miss it during the Summer while the Sun was higher in the sky. The tint strip helps but it is still too much. I might paint the lip flat black.
