The 2018 Camry is still a midsize sedan. The new Accord moved up to the large segment with the Avalon, Taurus, and Impala.

The Accord has moved up to "Large Car" or "Fullsize Car" once before Gen 8 (2008-2012). It's interesting cause Honda vehicles had always been one size smaller in the 90s and early 2000s (e.g. the Civic was a subcompact competing in a compact class and the Accord was a compact competing in the midsize class). Now, the Civic and Accord are the largest in their respective categories (or in the case of the Accord, technically moved into the large car category again)

perhaps honda is adept at designing for the current market.

Depends on whether Honda loses Accord sales. I don't think the price increased much.

Mmmm, 120 cu.ft. total should have taken to large size.
But those values are rounded, and the EPA might use the unrounded ones for classification.

    They want the small SUV.
If the Accord is too big, then there's the Civic.

Damn, the volume is close; 1 cu.ft. difference in total volume. Civic is 2 less in cabin, and 1 more in trunk.

Holy! I mean the new Civic looks big but that's a lot closer than I thought.

Goes without saying that the fine details of were the space is going to matter to individual buyers.
Yet I think Honda is going to do fine with this line up of bigger cars. With the public wanting SUVs, a car company might be fine with less sedans in the line up. The Chevy dealer we were shopping at said the Impala is going to be cancelled. I see why. It's a nice car, but the Malibu all ready has a roomy cabin. Then the Impala's larger trunk isn't going to sway people with stuff away from SUVs.

Camry and Accord 0.2" of each other on wheelbase and overall height, within 0.5" overall length and within 1.0" width. They have always been compared against each other. Avalon not compared against Accord by jounalists, price ranges very different. Avalon has no 4 cylinder version.

2018 Toyota Camry MPG & Price

2018 Honda Accord - Redesigned Midsize Sedan | Honda

Very disappointed in Toyota with new Camry, especially considering no loss in trunk space with hybrid. They keep putting out cars that appear just fine on outside to me, then I hop inside and it 'what the ??, no fit! Argh! '.
Prius, Corolla, Camry, Rav4, not fit. Even Avalon lacks headroom to me.

Highlander and Tundra fit me fine, but geez the price and 15 MPG Tundra, no way.

One of those things, Honda fits, Toyota no.
Used to be 2 top of the line motorcycle helmet brands, Shoei and Arai. Arai's didn't fit quite right, but Shoei's did. That's life.

Anyone out there with real-world MPG results on the 2018 LE Hybrid? My wife thinks she would like the LE since it is the only model with the cloth seats.

they probably aren't discounting them until the '17's are gone.
