For 1000 miles per year I would buy just a regular gas guzzler and still be more "green" than BEV driver that does 20,000 miles/year.

The fact is that Prius target customers 10 years ago were a little different that they are now, those from 10 years ago are looking into BEV market, Toyota did a great job improving Prius so it suits to more wide audience. Prius Prime is no different, it's not marketed as PHEV super green Eco car, but rather an improved regular Prius, it's just the most equipped Prius that incidentally has a plug.

I have test driven the new regular Prius and gas engine is so refined and sound proofed that under the light load there really is no diference in user experience compared to BEV. This was such a big diference to me that I'm really questioning the PHEV market. It may be an exit for companies that can't make a proper HEV, but looking at the numbers what MPG people are actually getting on some of the smaller battery (8-10 kWh) PHEV it's really no diference to the new Prius. The only PHEVs that stands out are Volt and BMW i3 REX, but with those two I'm asking myself, why the gas engine when it's so rarely used, may as well get bigger battery and supercharger ;)

Still going solo on the infotainment system it seems...no Apple or Driod love. Really cripples daily life insisting on these systems.

Well you can wait for the Apple car and its bound to connect to your iPhone. Might even have a surreptitious number of lightning connectors readily available for your passengers as well. It’ll probably cost about $10,000 more than a Tesla, have a magnetic wireless EVSE only compatible with the Apple car, require Touch ID or your Apple Watch to enter and start the car, have a three month trial to Apple Music, and be completely integrated with the App Store. That way you can download apps get to your favorite legacy operations for your Apple Car such as satellite, AM and FM radio. Of course it’ll be integrated with Apple Maps for navigation. Not included with your Apple Car but sold separately at the Apple Store will be adapters for J1772 for $139.95. For $149.95 you can get an adapter 1 ft longer.
