Just to address the subject line: I don't like the 2016 Prius styling. I was really looking forward to this car, then when the first uncovered spy shots broke (the car behind some hedge, getting prepped for a commercial?), my heart kinda sunk. :(

I was just starting to calm down, trying to rationalize, when I saw some interior shots. That was kind of like when you've been in a serious accident, say broken a leg. Then they roll you over and discover blood pouring out. Oh what now!!

Sorry, the car looks like a hyped-up pair of runners (trainers).

Whether it's ugly or not, it gets quite a few second glances. Personally I think it's very modern looking.

Well done video! Thanks for posting.

As for styling, I suspect even Toyota realizes the rear-end is...unusual. On a recent trip to the beautiful country of Norway I saw a Prius TV commercial. The thing that stood out (among the numerous beauty shots) was the lack of a single view of her rear-end. Yep, completely ignored the nether region. Not even a glimpse. Coming from a country where Vigeland statues are well tolerated (actually, adored, with good reason), I'm shocked. ;)

    Great review! V entertaining.

What UK model is this that you reviewed? Is it Business Plus or Excel? Might be good to make clear that not all the features you mentioned are free on the cheaper Active and Business models.

Re mpg I get around 60 in my Gen2 (with mostly short journeys) so would expect to get a lot better than 60 in a Gen4.

You say that the Prius is unbeatable for the specific purpose of driving around town, or words to that effect. What is your view of it for long motorway journeys?

am i the only one who likes the rear end? i think the lighting design is brilliant, and a totally new idea from what we've been seeing for decades.

Motorway at 50mph - 60mph - amazing because of the adaptive cruise no wind noise.

I would not make a habit of it though as

1/ Its loud on the tyres on loud surfaces
2/ It feels nice and light and hence not so cruisey for really long runs.

That said... in this price bracket it kills a vauxhall astra which one car of the year for motorways. Same applies to other small ish cars.

Nah. I'm there with you. I love the back end. It's the front end that I feel unsettled with. But I feel exactly the same way with most modern cars. I think the car looks sharp. I don't really have issues with it. When it comes to styling, the only cars that get me really excited are the supercars that I can't afford ... much less will I ever get a chance to drive.

You can't see me applauding but trust me, I am. Well done. By the way, you're driving on the wrong side of the road but I understand that's something you Brits just do. Carry on!

    I agree 100%.

The standard 2016 looks different. Modern, sharp and unique. I love it.

I think the back end of the prime looks like a pair of puckered lips, and the sizes of some of the black grills on Toyota/Lexus (and Prime) is ridiculous. Yuck. Not for me.

hmmmm, well its kinda ugly. but who buys it for the wow factor!!! I shire hell didnt

I purchased it simple to save Gas, due to my compute.

aka my Daily Driver, could care less what it looks , other than its safe and comfortable.

now on the side the spectrum , I have my weekend car for the days I feel my ego needs a boost.

Honestly , when I am in the cabin I feel like a million bucks , just feels good and roomy.

then when I get out and look at it I'm like Holly (*^&%8%&%) this thing is so small ....lol

oh! crazy story....just happened like 3 days ago.

I was pulling into the Bank , when this chick in her new and I say new BMW cut me off, so rude and she looked at me like dirt.

Guess we both her headed to the drive in ATM. Well she was driving a new 550 more power to her. But man the look on her face was so smug.

Anyhow she finished sitting at the ATM 5min later then she pulls off bumping her music. Well she left her ATM receipt in the machine she pulled out $150 and had balance of $40

I think you have find the right perspective. I come from owning past luxury models... and chose the PRIUS to support my budget.

And so far it's been a WIN , WIN

Now after the new C63 Coupe depreciates , I will rethink going back to a BENZ for now its PRUIS all the way.....wink!

Oh! Did I mention this car is ugly as hell....lol

I don't think you're atypical. There's a LOT of 4th gen owners here saying "I don't much care for the looks, but...". I wonder if the guy who hired the guy who hired and gave direction to the designer team is hearing this? Or cares??
