I don't care if it is cover or not, as long as it looks good and protect the rims from curb scratches.

PiP rims have no covers and I take extra care when I park.

The headlight set's a new high water mark for fragility? I've outlined the bumper (fairing) perimeter, and I'm thinking about the circled zone: what are the odds that's gonna snap, in any low speed collision:

Wouldn't worry too much about the light in a collision. The actual energy absorbing parts of the front bumper didn't extend all the way to the outside edge of the bumper cover on the gen2. The new offset test means that they have a chance of actually doing that on this gen Prius.

The 15" are wheel covers as before. The 17" are still alloys (black part) but they just use silver plastic to fill in the gaps between the spokes to reduce drag. It's not a wheel cover.

Oh I see. Yeah I hope Toyota offers an ambient light package too.

They've traditionally had a green variant.

    Great...no sun glasses holder either.

Toyota really screwed up on driver storage. No place for my sunglasses, my badge, my parking pass, Kleenex or other little stuff accessible to the driver. I've never owned a car that didn't have at least a little compartment or two for these necessary items easily accessible to the driver.

I guess I could epoxy a little bin over the Qi charger. At least that would serve a purpose. But talk about an ugly hack!

I'll have to see this in person, seems that they managed just barely to find space under the dash for one glove box.

Prius has always been a "funky" car... I wish they offered a couple non traditional colors...

Looks like the attendees had access to the Toyota officials, but only posed for pictures, no questions for them? Simple items like what improved the aerodynamics the most or what was the most difficult styling challenge.

They weren't answering those types of questions. This is a reveal being done in stages, and we'll have answers to those questions in the coming weeks.

Looks like some people think we never tried asking questions, but only posed for pictures. Seriously? You think it's like us to attend an event like this and just sit on our hands? Have you read all our data dump posts? Have you seen the pictures of us literally disassembling the cars? Have you seen the number of times people have said Toyota was not giving out details?

Every Toyota employee was tight-lipped. In my case, I asked a question to the Chief Designer and a U.S. Toyota employee standing nearby leaned in and said, "no" as in "no answer". Even the Toyota employees typically friendly and forthcoming with information would simply laugh and walk away when we tried to press for info.

I can guarantee you this: if you take the time to go through these threads, you are getting tons more information here than you would get from other sources. Until, that is, Toyota actually releases official information.

A few times over the last couple a days, I've found myself staring at SECOND gen's. Trying to understand what's at work here.

With three points of reference I'm starting to see a trend. With each generation it seems the designers felt obligated to raise the bar, earn their paycheck or something. It seems like an unhealthy corporate climate at work.

I'm thinking there's a threshold, beyond which necessity get's chucked, the design is hollow, and unfortunately...

Well, i was waiting for this Prius for about one year because i want to use it as my daily driver but also as a camper, with a flat cargo floor to lay on like a lot of people do when using it as a camper. Unfortunately it seems the new Prius no longer has a flat cargo floor which is very sad, a lot of people actually bought the prius because it can be used as a camper while still being an epic daily driver.

That would really tick me off seeing someone touch every line of an incredibly polished car!
