My distance-to-empty meter is still telling me that I can go 800 miles on this tank. Improbable at best.
doing quick math 800 divides by 11.3, size of tank would be a little over 70mpg if I done it right then the question I have is, if the miles you can get on the next tank. If the car is new, there was not a previous tank to compare mileage so how can the read out be accurate? I would be more interested in knowing how many bars are left displaying on gas gage. I think the gen 3 has 10 bars and each bar depressants 50 miles approximately. U see where I'm coming from, if car is new, then how is the readout possible?
the problem is, dte should be going down by approximately the amount of miles he's driven on the tank.
The gas gage has 8 bars. But each bar has 2 parts. I have driven 360 miles and show 5/8 of the tank remaining. My 2nd generation Prius taught me to be suspicious of the gas gage. And my 2014 Avalon Hybrid Limited is very conservative with DTE. We'll just have to wait and see.
interesting, I wasn't aware there were 8 bars, gen 3 has ten bars. You have not put any gas in car since you bought it?
No. I am the kind of driver that waits for the gas light to come on before I fill up. I averaged 460 miles per tank on my Gen 2
Dealer invoice on a 2016 Prius Three with cargo mat package is $25,815. Take $850 off and we are paying $24.965 plus doc fee $349 plus sales tax. It is worth joining Costco for $55 just to get this deal. Herb Chambers Toyota is the only dealer in the Boston area where you can do this. Arriving TBD Nate
this really sounds good, will really be interesting to see how many miles you actually get by odometer compared to your next fill up and do the pump math also. Let me ask you this one last thing, are you adding the two number together to get the 800 mile on tank of gas? You have been 360 mile, it should read out that you can go another 440 miles if this was a gen 3 car
Well thank god I never have been in a situation like that, but I have seen it happen and maybe if the guy would have had a bit more power, just to give him a split second more time to move over to correct his mistake the crash could have been avoided . I hope I never will underestimate a situation but I am only human and unfortunately humans do make mistakes sometimes.
Maybe the distance to empty-meter is finally working the way it should and adapts to current driving style and situation . Current generations dte-meter only goes down or stagnates instead of going back up a bit when driving more efficiently.
thanks for straightening me out there. my gen three gauge is spot on, hopefully gen 4 will be as well.
Yeah the Gen 2 gas gauge is different between the first half (5 pips) and the 2nd half (5 pips). I've noticed the first half average 80km per pip and the last half is 50km per pip. IOW, it goes down slower for the first half of the tank and faster in the second half. This was when the car was new.
