I was going to suggest the article might be wrong BUT you might take to the dealer to get a better deal. Bob Wilson

Yikes! That didn't take long. I'd thought there would have been some need to work through whatever backlog of pent-up demand there was for the Gen4 before they'd start rolling out discounts. Uptake by the Prius Gen2/3 owner base might be weaker than I'd imagined (or than Toyota feared). Only one market, I realize, but it doesn't bode well. The Gen4 has been controversial even among the Priuscenti gathered here, and I've wondered if the "more sizzle, less steak" approach was going to alienate old buyers more than recruit new ones. We might have our answer sooner than I expected. Oh well. That might have cost me a few grand [sigh].
Seeing this not only on the Prius the Hybrid Camry sales are down 34%. I got a local quote at about $4k below sticker (including rebate) and a trade quote without the dealer seeing the car.
Yesterday I got my new white Prius Executive (which should be a 4 Touring) from my dealer. So happy with it! We made a little tour of about 200 km and I love this car. Got 4,1 Liter per 100 km (57 MPG) for the tour, most Autobahn (highway).
Mostly between 110 - 135 km/h, should be 60 - 85 mph. The car is brand new, so I'll give him some time before driving too fast or with too much rpm.
I was about to give many thumbs up when I saw 110-135 (I thought MPH!!) lol. Then realized it was KPH. In all seriousness you are correct about not driving like you stole it during break in..
4.1L/100km including speeds at 110-135km/h?!? Wow. We haven't taken ours above 80km/h yet. Mostly city driving for now.
Very good but some questions: Germany uses straight gas? - We have nearly universal E10 Have you checked the tire inflation pressure? - Some have reported 'shipping pressure' versus door jam. When you have more time in the car, I would be interested in speed vs fuel consumption rates on flat roads and low wind speeds. For now, enjoy!! Bob Wilson
Got mine 04/05/2016. Prius 3 Touring Hypersonic Red with Moonstone interior. $14,000 for my 2012 Prius 3 Winter Grey with 28000 miles. 52.2 MPG lifetime hand calculated. Plus $18,230 Cash. $32,230 Total out door. Included all Mats, carpet and all season + rear bumper protector + shift and console applique + Pinstripe. Just an observation: 2 major earthquakes, Japanese automakers shut down, etc. Aren't we all glad we all got ours?!!!
That seems like a great price. How much was your "loyalty" bonus? See the post above mine by bowerda47. Paid $32,230 for the same model. Why the huge price difference?
"Loyalty Bonus" $500. Difference in price. Cal.vs Mich? Couldn't tell you. All I can say is my kids have been told they are not getting any money when I die. If they find a dollar left, then obviously, I did something wrong. LOL
Four Touring with Premium Convenience package, paint film, with protection package (side moulding, rear bumper protector etc). Base was $32,768 through buying service (MSRP was $34,074). We opted for some of the extended protection packages (the dealer had a promotion going) so drive away cost was more. Absolutely love the car, only wish it had a spare tire (my only reservation) Merged. Navigation system is good but voice recognition is not. We've nicknamed the voice (and I guess thereby the car) "Prissy!"
I'm very satisfied with the Navigation system in my $25,000 (stripped) Three Model. (Who needs ATP?! I can turn on the windshield wipers myself, thank you very much! ) Nav has worked well so far. I asked her to "take me home", and it works fine. I ask for "points of interest", and she replies... "Along your route?" Or, "Near here?" And then she breaks it down to entertainment, restaurants, etc. Even gas stations and movie theaters. It's fun to play with. One time I asked for the nearest dentist office. And she replied... "You want Dunkin' Donuts?" Sure, that's even better!!
