wow...Wow...WOW! Took my first spring road trip yesterday with my 2016 Prius two. About equally mixed suburban, highway and rural driving, clear skies and temps in the high 60's and low 70's. Total miles around 100 miles and final MPG of 68.5 MPG. For most of the trip, I was in the 70's, but got lazy near the end and used the cruise control. I drove my last Prius for 12 years and was never able to sustain 70+ mpg for any length of time. Best tank I ever got was low 60's.
Reply back Ken, when you go thru a full tank of gas. Those relatively short trips always show a higher MPG. It seems that the dashboard display may overstates the MPG by about 4 or 5. At least, mine did. My display showed that I averaged 60.5 over 586 miles. (I refueled when Low Fuel Light came on.) In reality, my hand calculation says I got 56.8 MPG. That's still very good.
Are you talking about the mudflaps at rear bottom of wheel wells? They weren't standard on 3rd gen, I see no mention of them on Toyota Canada website for 2016, either standard or as an accessory, and I'm not seeing any in the pics. Funny, I'd always made sure our Honda's had front and rear mudflaps, didn't with our Prius, not missing them. Their main function seems to be to collect gunk.
chenderson, that's interesting. Just the opposite with me. In my new '16 Three model, the shorter trips are always up in the high 70s and 80s. But once the full tank gets down to near empty, the overall average mpg is about 56-58. Not complaining. I'll take it.
My previous car was a Honda Pilot. Fifty plus mpg sounds AMAZING to me! I'm very happy to get anything over 40mpg. iPhone ?
Hi Mendel. Yes, I'm talking about the OEM Toyota wheel well mudguards that you can buy as an accessory on every other Toyota car. (front & rear) That "gunk" you're talking about, is what's flying up on my new Pearl White body!
Same with me, glenn. 56 mpg is unbelievable. And my Three flies! Once I took it out of the "Eco" mode, that little car moves! For 11 years, I was only getting 17 mpg (city) in my '05 Camry SE with the V6 gas-sucking engine.
I for one, in order for me to better evaluate the G4's fuel efficiency, would appreciate it when touting the fantastic milage quotes, if posters would clarify if it is "indicated" or "calculated." There is a difference, or at least there has been in the past.
Yeah. They weren't standard on the Gen 3 (I added the longer "Euro" ones from the PC Shop). They were standard on the Gen 2 and now they're standard on the Gen 4. Yes there's no mention but trust me, it's there . Or just check out the media videos. They all have mudguards.
It's hard for me to truly judge what I can achieve on an entire tank of fuel. About half the miles put on the car are driven by my girlfriend, who does not take the mileage game half as serious as I do. In my first thousand miles, my actual mileage is around 57 mpg thanks to her sloppy driving ;-) SAMSUNG-SM-G890A ?
Purchased the 2016 Prius 2 in pearl. Paid just under 22,000 First Hybrid ever. I did better without using the costco program and going through Toyota Financial.
Great price. Recently I notice the Dealers are not advertising such discounted pricing as they did a month ago. I recently got a quote on a ECO for $24,595.I responded back I would like it at Dealer cost so far no response.
Upstate New York, if you are responding to me. Not sure. I figure ask for dealer cost to see if they are willing to go lower. This dealer is carrying 4 classic silver ECO models for about the past month. I am not interested in Silver really want Red with black interior.
kinda surprising that cali is giving them away, and you can't even get a return phone call. i would have thought the other way around.
