I am a new member here, but I have been reading this forum for about 2 years now. Like everybody said, the cheap gas prices are seriously harming Prius sales. Numerous dealers in Los Angeles and Orange County have 200+ Prii sitting around. On Saturday night, I got an unbelievable deal with the color combination I wanted.
I here you man. Regardless of what gas prices are its always nice to fill up for approx $18 ( wifes Prius) and get about 600miles. SM-G928T ?
One of the things I love about factory rebates. You know what it is? Negotiating the price after factory rebate. Bear in mind the words factory rebate and not dealer. Hence more savings. Just s tip. Lol. When dealer sales person says you're getting $xxxx factory rebate tell him or her what rebate the dealer is giving you also. Since they get credit for that factory rebate back from what I know. This was my very first commute to work. It only gets better from here on out! I'm loving it Edit: here is my return home this morning. Be advised I spent quite a while sitting with it idling silently trying to figure out the darn current mpg subscreen, am still stumped. Btw the DRCC is fantastic. Loving the sunroof too!! I'll add that the first screen reflected a 65mph highway speed. About half highway and half city. The return leg was 60mph...
Today I had my TAH serviced. While at the dealer, I looked at the many Prius on the lot. Not one had the "urinal white" cup holder. Is that a cover that Toyota has made available, or have they changed the cup holder completely? I also looked at the white dash board. Not something I would choose after reading about the glare issues.
I ask for the white console and I had to order the black one. The Touring four come in white. The Eco two don't bring any. I wanted the white one. Got tired of the way it look!! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
This car is absolutely phenomenal! Never ever could I have come even close to these mpg numbers with my old Gen 3's.. I'm so happy I bought this car.. This was today, just out driving about.. Since this a rebate / buying thread, figured I would just add that if anybody is on the fence about a new Gen4, just do it! Use the rebate and enjoy... I sure know I am.
I'm not seeing the $2,000 rebate offer in this area. I have checked several dealers on internet and all they will do is send you a link of the offers. Not seen the rebate offer, maybe they still don't need to sell them, in that case I don't need to buy either. I was suppose to go look at one Saturday but haven't got a straight answer yet.
You are absolutely right. I just put in Seagrove NC into the toyota incentives page and yup, the only deal showing up is 0% for 60 months, nothing about any cash back incentives at all. I even put in Jacksonville, NC into the query figuring it might just be the location and same deal. Nothing? Weird. My region in PA is 2k off. And I just saw that they again bumped the fiance incentive back up to 0% for 72 months till the beginning of next month which was not available this past week... Maybe try SC. or VA? Heck might want to think about a road trip to purchase it in DC like the other fella a few posts above did and got a crazy great deal... Just a suggestion. All the best.
I received this email this morning, it looks like local dealers are coming off Price but are putting rebates in their pockets and not telling us about it. This is the email I got: OFFER WITH APPROVED CREDIT ON SELECT MODELS. OFFER EXCLUDES TAX, TAG, TITLE, REGISTRATION AND $598 DEALER FEE. SAVINGS ARE OFF OF MSRP. EXAMPLE MODEL: NEW 2016 PRIUS 5DR FOUR TOURING, MSRP: $31,852, SALE PRICE: $28,352. STK# T8366. MONTHLY PAYMENT FOR EVERY $1,000 FINANCED IS 0% - 60 MONTHS = $16.67. DEALER RETAINS ALL FACTORY REBATES AND INCENTIVES. SEE DEALER FOR DETAILS. CANNOT BE COMBINED WITH SOME OTHER OFFERS. OFFER ENDS 8/31/16. If you do the math, 28352X16.67= a monthly payment of 472.63 for 60 months= approx $28,352.00, that would be 0% financing. Well this email did tell that dealer: DEALER RETAINS ALL FACTORY REBATES AND INCENTIVES, but not how much of price is rebate I seen a 2016 two Prius today 3k off MSRP of 24,200, yellow paper in window 21,200
Why are Prius sales down? I don't know but we have our reasons why we bought a Gen III instead of the Gen IV recently. - White accents on the steering wheel and console. I simply don't like the white and think it will show scuff marks over time. - Some models don't have a spare tire. I won't buy any car without a spare. - Lower seating position and lower car height. I already stopped driving one car a few years back because it was too low. - Less storage spaces, cubbies, etc., loss of second glove box. - Loss of 12V outlet on lower part of console. - Poor position of the shift lever. - Gen III was on sale for a really good price. - MPG improvements were a disappointment. - Driving characteristics of our 2008 Gen II were just fine so I didn't need the new suspension and steering improvements. - Outside design. I don't care one way or the other. I care about the inside not the outside (but there are limits!) - The console is ugly. - Three spoke steering wheel. I very often drive with my right hand at the bottom of the wheel. - Less rear seat legroom. As far as having five seats we have on occasion had five in the car including a car seat in the middle. It's tight but for trips under 50 miles it works for us. I wouldn't want to lose the option to have five in the car so won't buy a 4 seat car. There were two turn-offs for me with the Volt; four seats, and no spare tire. As for EV or the Prime I'd want a minimum of 60 miles driving range so the Prime is out. I wonder if the coming Bolt is causing some people to hold off on buying a car which is in turn hurting Prius sales? The Bolt looks pretty interesting. My biggest problem with it is that it is a GM product and I'm used to Toyota reliability. We have 3 Toyotas currently. I would 'consider' buying a Bolt for around town, keeping the 2015 Gen III, and selling the 2008 Gen II.
those are a lot of reasons! you must be right on some of them. or all of them for some people. agree on the bolt, except it's even smaller than the prius.
I wouldn't consider a Bolt for the families only car. The large cargo space of the Prius is very important to us. But Bolt as a daily commute car, and the Prius for longer trips would be a good fit for us. However I'm afraid the Bolt is missing a critical component. I just found out (2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV ) the Bolt won't have a spare tire. That takes it off my list. I simply will not purchase a car without a spare. Nothing can convince me that self-sealing tires can protect my family from all road hazards. A self-sealing tire can only deal with certain size punctures, not a slit caused by hitting something that just fell off the truck in front of me. We live in an area where it is quite possible to be 50+ miles from a gas station or repair shop, and it is easy to be out of range of cell towers. I need a spare tire, built into the car, that doesn't eat up some of the cargo space.
Prius is the most practical car on the planet except a model T. I would get a Leaf or Bolt if and when I move to a big nasty city.
Generally speaking from my own experience dealer's do their utmost to get the customer into the showroom. Also generally speaking I've found dealer incentives ( not factory) worthless. SM-G928T ?
I've not bought anything yet. I'm waiting on Prius Eco to come down in price to 20,500. I will either trade in our 2011 or hold on to it and sell it to private party.
I think they trying to take out the spare in place of the liquid. I don't like the liquid at all. 129.00 it what it cost. I can buy 2 spare tires. The Roadside Service it will take for ever. The dealer will always try not to give out the Factory Rebate . They said 0 interest for 60 Month or 4,000 Rebate. Getting both is the hard part. My Two Eco was on the window 26,692 got down to 21,888 This was on 06/16 should be lower by now even more.Dont said anything about the trade in until the end!! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
