There are so many here in California, Jim. I don't know why Toyota doesn't ship more to other parts of the country. Fours, Four Touring, fully loaded. One dealer has 329 new Prius on his lot.
It appears with the new rebate and a quick check of dealers 5k total off sticker is achievable here in CA. Not yet up to the 7k off sticker they were selling for last fall when they were closing out the 2015's.
Dealers get to screw you on the trade. Toyota makes up for some of the sales loss on sale of parts and accessories.
On Toyota's website it states that this deal is only good through 8/1/16. Based upon past history do you think the rebate might good back down to $1500? Or is it likely to stay up at least at $2000?
You are right, I have not seen a single fully loaded four with both ATP and PCP anywhere near me. I have been to probably like 10+ toyota dealer looking around and gave up. I have found any and all color / acessory / package combinations possible but not that. I called the General Mgr at my go to Totota dealership (4 cars bought from them and counting) and told him I will be in Monday to take advantage of the 2k or 0% / 72 deal along with my Costco pricing. I think I'm gonna take the Costco deal and the 0% for 72 and forgo the 2k off, but we shall see.... He said that deal is limited to what they have on the lot, which is understandable. I am pretty set on the Three they have on the lot in hypersonic red with black interior (All weather mats package and preferred accessory package) but might change my mind and possibly go for either a Hypersonic Eco or a 3T in Blue crush?? I am thinking the three is a very nice middle ground. The lank keep assist and the radar cruise and spare tire would be very nice but is it worth the $1800 extra for the 3T along with the mpg hit of the 17's?? If the 3T on the lot had moonstone interior it would be a done deal, but it has black interior... Oh... Decisions, decisions.
Good question. Toyota is funny like that. They have been know to either keep the incentives the same or lower them or Raise em. Remember the old quote.... "Are you feeling lucky today"?.... I can tell you this much. I think it was 2 months ago back when it was 1k rebate OR 0% for 60 months on the last couple days of the month they allowed and advertised (quietly on the incentives page) that they were honoring BOTH offers combined. That only lasted a couple days then it regressed back to one or the other. I missed out but am happy I did and I will now buy my new car on Monday before this 2k or 0% for 72 possibly goes away.... I think Monday will yield the best possible deal in recent times. Remember if you are a Costco member that you will save even more... Back when I bought my old persona on the last day of the month whenever that was the best offer available was 0.9% for 60, which I took....low and behold the very next day it went down to 0% for 60!! Haha...
Lack of national inventory hurts the gross sales number but they sold everyone they got here. Prius is just now arriving in numbers do to the multiple events in Japan. Sales are down from last years industry records and now the whole industry is in a "incentive feeding frenzy". Ford is offering $3k to $4k cash plus 0% on many models including F-150's. Xlt pkg's up to $8k off msrp. Even Mustang Shelbys get $1,750 cash. Ford calls some of the cash for its hybrid and EV "Prius and Volt competitive cash". Saw an online local Chevy dealer ad promoting the new Volt (2017?) starting at $41k. Had just 1 in white.
If you are looking for specific trims, figure out the total sticker price then go to cars.com and you can set a radius to search in. Easy way to see what's out there without having to visit every dealers web site.
I had. $7,100 off sticker from my local Bayarea last Nov/15, good thing I waited for gen4 primarily due to double wishbone suspension, lithium battery, improve gas mileage, plus driving ICE off over 45mph.
About 15-Aug we get the 2Q sales numbers from the California New Car Dealers Assoc. Suffice it to say CA, last couple years, growing from 22 to 35% of all US hybrid sales (vs. 11% of population). So the lion's share of Gen4 are heading to CA market.
Did you mean cheapest Gen4 (the 2) or cheapest Gen4 4-level? In either case call Dianne Whitmire of PriusChat If there's a CA bumper crop of Gen4, I'd expect we'd hear about it from Dianne.
FYI, I just picked up a new '16 Prius THREE in the blizzard pearl exterior and MSRP of $28,333 with only a few factory accessory options. Opted for the 0% / 72 months promotion and received a $3,2xx discount - no trade in. Total out the door including 6.25% state sales tax (Texas) was $27,3xx. I could have saved exactly another $2,000 with the cash Toyota is offering, but it can't be combined with the special APR - so I just took the 0% since I knew I was going to take advantage and reap the benefits of it during the long run. I insisted repeatedly on combining the $2k with the 0%, but I gave up after being explained and turned down over and over. I use to be a salesman at this dealer a couple of years ago, therefore I dealt with the one who undercuts all the sales managers and works strictly on volume and his CSI surveys to help lift the dealer. I'm very grateful that I spotted a freshly delivered and remaining Prius from the port only 2 days ago. Thankfully, it was the only Prius which didn't have the front bumper drilled out with the front plates, and it was a great color with good specs. Also, I'm skeptical of first year models as well, but I feel confident that this one is very solid and well put together from the Japan factory. Everything feels with precision and reliability... No regrets, and I'm one of the most OCD folks out there.
