    I've seen uglier rear-ends on a car......but not lately.
The front end doesn't look that bad even though it has more facets than a stealth fighter.
The $%#@!$! bifurcated rear glass is still there.

Let's see some real world specs
and perhaps also if that 60's concept-car rear light assembly can be fixed somehow with a bolt-on accessory.

Yeah, that's my case. Didn't seem so minor though, lol. It actually made some of the garage door rollers jump outa the track. Here's a very simple pre-emptive measure:

My issue is different. I can go in all the way to make clearance for the hatch while the door is down. When the garage door is up the hatch touches it. When I'm moving stuff in-and-out of the trunk the hatch rubs and gets scratched up. But the worst is not realizing the hatch is up and hitting the garage door opener to close/open the garage door. Bad stuff happens and the both doors (garage and Prius) will get jammed. I need to somehow put padding on the inside of the garage door...can't find a viable solution yet.

Of course if the new Prius has some adjuster max-height...that would be awesome :p

    Hatch struts with intermediate stops?

(Geez, I'm dragging a lot of threads off-topic this morning, lol.)

i park in the same spot in the garage, and gled a big piece of cushion foam to the door where the spoiler lands. doesn't help the backing out with the hatch open problem though.

Yes sir I have to be careful about how I open and close my hatch while in the garage, too. Simple solution, pull the Prius out of garage then open the hatch. No fuss no muss no bother.

My socks are beginning to come off....
Just one week to go !
I wonder if the small light under the main headlight is a cornering light ?
Anyway I really like the new exterior design and I am hoping for an equally great interior !

    Take your pick:

    0) blackout the lower portion of a gen2 or 3 Prius rear window and see how view is.

    1) Wait until Toyota makes (regular) Prius with a trunk again to avoid split rear glass. Be prepared to lose x amount of cargo space and x amount of MPGs

1a) wait until Toyota makes a Prius liftback with single rear glass but stretches Prius length x inches to compensate for reduced vertical cargo room (think mini Tesla Model S with short front end)

    2) Buy with split rear glass, blackout the lower glass and live with it

    3) buy a Prius v or c hatchback

That window accumulates dirt so fast on mine, I swear it's blacked out half the time anyway!

I was able to eliminate contact between hatch and door when the car is in the garage by eliminating the offset in the closing arm.

You can't make the upper glass panel come down much lower without increasing drag, making the car a lot longer or lowering the roof which compromises view at the top of the window and compromises interior space.

I like the Gen 3 bifurcated glass a whole lot better than any of those alternatives. In fact I don't find it a problem at all.

What I really don't like is the obstructed view both out and down at the front and rear pillars. I don't see any reason that this can't be improved and I hope that it is but I find it hard to judge from the Gen 4 photos.

I am pretty sure that that ugly looking black piece of plastic in the c-pillar is indeed a small triangular tinted window.

I was certainly in the acclamation category. Bought the first model year Gen III. I don't see that happening now short of a plug-in.

Did you even read that thread? Universal acclaim? These are quotes from the first three pages:

"i'm going to be pretty sad if this is real"

“For those of you disappointed with the look in these pictures, just remember: Toyota's not gonna mess with a good thing.”

“I was expecting something more...distinctive. It looks like a Honda, not the world's most recognisable hybrid.”

“Personally, I don't like the re-design either, on the inside with that center console, and the exterior looks too much like a Yaris.”

“I truly hope this isn't the final version. I think the Gen II looks cleaner myself.”

“If it is the real version I don't really like the looks. I was expecting something different. It almost looks like what Toyota would want a redesigned Celica to look like, not a Prius.”

“I don't think I really like the way it looks in those photos. For some reason I'm actually starting to like that chevy volt.”

“With the bulging, round emblem smack in the middle, it looks like a fake clown nose. On cars, it's unattractive.”

So, same old same old. The people who aren't used to change are complaining just as they did in 2008. They'll eventually get used to it and 6 years from now, the G4 will be the "classic Prius look" and the G5's new design will be "horrible".

I think it is the blinker, mounted at about 45 degree angle.

    Car and Driver says:

"It appears that when Toyota’s designers went searching for inspiration for the new Prius, they looked across the studio at the homely Mirai hydrogen fuel-cell sedan and . . . couldn’t look away. Lines, angles, and bulbous elements intersect all over the Prius’s body, and while these images are far from flattering, we’ll wait until we see the car from all angles to render our final judgment. Hopefully the hybrid’s promising-sounding technical details make up for the seemingly uninspiring visuals."

Sounds like they weren't impressed by the styling, either.

So, we can believe in what they say(without explanations or descriptions of the similarities: "Saw None") like in a religion! :)
