Eco could be a weight loss more aero model. I doubt it will cost less than the base prius, but yes losing things like no fog lights, perhaps lighter seats, lithium battery, smaller wheels, might make it a better city mpg king.

It provides automatic grill blocking when the car is cold, getting it warmed up faster.

I saw a video where they claimed the Li-ion battery would give us a pure electric range of about 6 miles (10 Kilometers)
That is nearly half as much as the current Plug-in !
    Is that even possible ?
After all it was just the normal Prius they were talking about .

The more the windshield slopes back and points upward toward the cold night sky, the more condensation. Modern cars and particularly the Gen 3 Prius are sloped back a long way to minimize aerodynamic drag.

Are we talking about a bigger battery to be able to store 6 miles of regen energy without an outside plug?

Without a plug that would only be useful for those driving in areas with serious mountains.

Little mountains. That energy is equivalent to about a 500-600m elevation change, which isn't a lot (my drive to work is a net elevation change of about 200m, and that's not over any mountains).

    I wouldn't mind it .
I have a supermarket right round the corner where I live .
I go there once a week to get everything I need for the following week,so being able to drive the 2.5 Kilometers there and back on pure ev-mode would be great .

The engine cooling systems on cars are oversized to allow for the extreme case; hauling a full load through Death Valley with the AC running. A partial grill block outside of that will likely mean the fan turning on more often at worse. These automatic shutters operate based on temperature and speed.

They won't block air flow to the radiator 100%. Even if the engine doesn't need it for cooling, the AC condenser does to work efficiently. Tried 100% on a car once, and the AC blew warm air when the car was stopped at lights.

You are right! They do say 10km. Wow, this is a great find. Not a native German, but he says "a lithium ion battery ensures pure electric thereafter at about 10 km".

Well I don't know if we will really see 6 miles or 10 Kilometers, and I know that people who really know what they are talking about keep telling us that a greater ev range on a regular hybrid wouldn't make all that much sense, but keep in mind what toyota said at the Las Vegas presentation.
The new Prius will challenge everything we know about hybrids !
Maybe they really developed something really big here !
However I am expecting a greater ev range on Prius 4 than just 1 1/2 miles !

Awful selection of colors as typical of Toyota. Lime green?? Who wants to drive a lime-green-color car?? Hopefully by 2017 they will introduce light blue or light green, when I will be considering buying a Prius. Light blue is my favorite choice in color when available, as it offers excellent visibility and looks great. I once had a Barcelona Red Metallic Toyota and that color had such poor peripheral visibility, as humans have extremely poor peripheral vision of the color red, it would literally attract other cars onto it from the sides. So, I am never buying a red car again.

Help us out with the translation. Is he saying "pure electric thereafter" or "pure electric range" or did I totally mistranslate?

He is only saying that it will have 150 horsepower,it will have a fuel efficiency of 3.1 Liters/100 Km (European rating ! ) and that the new lithium ion battery will get about 10 km of ev range .
