2016 Prius cracked windshield

My Eco took a really small pebble about a month ago. Didn't crack though. Knock on wood.

 

My 2017 Prius Two windshield (can't figure out how to update my profile) was chipped by a rock before it hit 10,000 miles. Luckily, I had it repaired before the crack spread. Try to get every windshield chip repaired ASAP, whether it's done by a shop or DIY.

The chip can be injected with a filler as long as the glass isn't wet, the area isn't too large, and it's not in the critical area in front of the driver. The filler prevents the crack from spreading, but the chip is still visible in direct sunlight and the windshield remains "broken." Why bother then? The whole purpose is to delay, not avoid, the expense of windshield replacement/camera recalibration.

 

Mine did the same thing a few months back. Had to have it replaced.

My windshield took a pretty good rock-whack right behind the rear-view mirror - about a year ago. It's less than an inch across. I never did anything about it since it's out of view and never propagated.

 

If that is on a Gen 4 it could affect the sensing camera accuracy.
