This was from Tampa, FL for a base Prius Two, in early August. I paid $19216 + 1190 (Tax) + 400 (Tag and Title, etc). Pretty cheap IMHO.

    EDIT - Blizzard Pearl.

$20,806 out the door? Yes, that's excellent.

I was at a huge, volume-selling dealer today, getting an oil change. They currently have 371 Gen4 Prius in stock! They better start discounting. (The only discount I see, is the $2,000 factory incentive.) a Two model is $23,260 + tax, license, fees.

I am jealous. But can you explain the discrepancy between the above numbers and this (from your post earlier in the prices paid thread) "Just took delivery in Tampa, FL. With tax, tag, fees it came to 21,499 out the door for a blizzard white 2016 Prius Two"

    21499 vs 20806.

Both of those beat what I got, but one of them softens the blow.

Don't feel bad m8. You know not how much wrangling and back and forth I had to do, to get to that number. That said, yes it was $21,499 OTD. I didn't include the destination fee in the previous numbers, as the OP had not asked for anything other than pre-tax/doc amount.

No, not OTD - see my response above. Their rationale was that they needed to get to their quota to get the bonus from Toyota, which is why they sold it to me that far below invoice. Also, probably to get rid of me.

pretty amazing how some are doing in fl, considering all the complaints about southeast toyota in the past.

I agree. Having moved from the North East, it was quite the shocker for me when I started visiting these dealerships.

The dealer I finally got down to this price started out at 24,900 OTD. The kicker is that that was the lowest price at the time. :/ Everyone else marked up the MSRP with things I didn't need at all - like metal tints (I prefer Ceramic), hand painted pin stripes, etc.

Destination fee is on the invoice and is not a dealer charge (though it does vary by region). My number, for example, includes the destination fee.

I find that the prices listed on the dealer websites, are very misleading. Usually MSRP only.

Then there's a button to click on that says, "click here to get our "e price." And that's when all the haggling games begin. I hate it. I almost bought a Scion just because of their simple "no-haggle" price policy.

Not so in SET, I understand. Florida dealers are notorious for doing this - some call it destination, some, doc fees. Just such a cluster-f here.

My understanding is that destination charges and even regional advertising fees are mostly legitimate. At least in that they appear on the invoice and are not set by the dealer. They're incorporated into the sales price that you're negotiating. Since it's a part of everyone's price, if you subtract it and others don't it's no longer an accurate comparison.

These are distinct from money-grabbing and sometimes double-dipping dealer-set fees for in-person "delivery", "prep", market/demand markup fees and the like. These are just other ways of writing "profit". The doc fee is a little bit of both. It's reasonable to charge something if the dealer is handling state, county, or other paperwork -- but most charge unreasonably high amounts, so fight to lower it if you can.

My prices also included destination (otherwise known as freight charge). This is on the invoice and not an add on charge. It's also different than the doc fee, which is technically negotiable and dealerships almost almost always charge the maximum allowed by law in that particular state. For consistency, everyone should be including that in their sale price

$23,800 includes all fees except tax($300) and ($35) tags :
2016 Three Touring with blizzard pearl, carpets, paint guard, side door bumpers, cable pkg, extra third year of free oil changes, full gas tank(None of which mattered to me particularly but added@ $1000+ to start price)
Road Warrior's price a little better but did not know what that one included so posted mine too

This thread was incredibly helpful as I looked around and negotiated .Thank you for starting it

I read about incentives and the costco program etc on this thread and made assumptions about price possibilities from that.I used Truecar to start and then received callbacks. I stated my out the door price to each callback. No negotiating or discussions of what went into their satisfying my price.
When my price was met, I had them put agreed price and specifics in email along with photo and vin of car and took it with me to dealer so deal done before got there. I felt pretty good about it based on feedback from forum.
